Just been on Radio Stoke 4pm news that the M6 Southbound is shut between 17 and 16 due to a tanker crashing with numerous cars.
Large queues building up southbound back beyond Junction 18.
Police say M6 likely to be shut southbound for quite a while.
Hope this is of use if you are going to the match later from Manchester way.

Appears there are MAJOR hold ups both ways on the M6. Northbound because of rubberneckin'.
Expect a lot of people will be looking for alternative roads causing additional delays to the match.

Delays of 1 hour on Southbound carriageway now back beyond Junction 18.
One lane now open southbound but major delays.

It'll be solid down the A50 as well then, there'll be a queue at Butt Lane lights like fatties after a disabled blue badge

M6 southbound traffic being diverted off M6 to Crewe, then A5020 and onto A500.

Opened one lane to allow those stranded to exit at 16
Otherwise all traffic off at 17

Also traffic problems on the A34 in Stone. Accident at Aldi and police have closed the car park off. Not sure how bad it will affect the traffic flowing past.

AA are now reporting 3 hours delay on M6 Southbound
From web site:
M6 southbound between J17 and J16
On the M6 southbound between junctions J19 and J16, there are currently delays of 3 hours caused by congestion due to a serious accident closing two lanes between junctions J17 and J16. Normal traffic conditions expected from 11:00 pm

Thanks for the warning Arno.........it's come a bit late for me. I have just returned home , having seen the queue from the Sandbach exit. Fuming really
I really hate these evenig games for this. I like the atmosphere but sometimes it is a nightmare trying to get there after work. My daughter doesn't finish until after 6.00.
