Saints have been riding a wave of confidence and that wave has broken. Just like Saints last season and WBA the season before. And Newcastle on/off for about 4 seasons. Stoke are more grounded than any of these sides but our results are no more predictable. We play to the level of the oppo too much and take our lead from what's in front of us. Perhaps we lack identity in the on-going transition era. Question is who will finish highest out of Stoke, Newcastle or Saints? I reckon that order high to low

I really think we will finish with a flourish like last season if our injured come back and hit the ground running. Saints bubble appears to have a leak and barcodes could go either way. So it's going to be depending on Cup runs for all three and how that effects league form. I wouldn't mind finishing behind them two with a good cup run as long as it doesn't mean squeaky bum time for last few weeks of season. Anybody else prefer a good cup run at the expense of top half finish?

I would settle for a bottom half finish if we got into europe via the cup

League position is the only true measure of our progress as a club. Which is why it would be great to finish above Soton and Mags who made up last seasons 8, 9, 10.

Hopefully with the return of Moses and possibly a new striker, one that will score lots of goals on a regular basis. The return of the Berlin Wall to shore up our defence. See what January brings, then my 10/ is on Stoke

As long as we finish the season fairly comfortable, with a very happy team spirit, I'll chomping at the bit waiting for 2015/16 season to start
To answer the question....I reckon Newcastle will finish higher

I told my personal trainer a month ago that Stoke would finish above Southampton. And that we'd beat Arsenal.

Tough call. I suspect Stoke have dropped too many "home banker" points already this season to catch up and overtake them.
Newcastle are on roll, have strong squad, massive home support and have played only 7 home matches so i expect them to keep racking up the points. Whereas Saints have hit a sticky patch, don't have such a strong squad in depth, and have a very tough fixture list in January when Newcastle could overtake them.
Conclusion: Newcastle Southampton Stoke
On a bright note, I think we can overhaul Swansea who have had an "easy" fixture list so far this season with 9 home matches mainly against lower teams and caught out ManU early in the season.

Saints. They were miles better than us when they played us. They have had some tough fixtures and are not getting the rub at the moment. Provided they steer clear of injuries and suspensions I think they will finish at least 5pts clear of us.

Should have gone Stoke, Southampton and Sunderland then it would be the battle of the S's all of whom play in red and white stripes!
As for the immediate question in hand we have pissed too many easy points up the wall already and won't catch either Newcastle or Southampton and in any case they both have better playing staff than us and that counts for something too over the course of a season.
In short they are both off and away in the proverbial cloud of cat's piss.

They were good against us but they were playing at the top of their game having just beat Sunderland 8-0. Second half in the cup we battered them and we have produced football just as good this season although not as consistently... yet
If last seasons run happened earlier in the season we would have made just as many headlines as Saints. Anyway our progress is steady, if unpredictable, and is I hope a genuine transition.

What a silly question. Obviously the one of those three teams which will have the most points and/or better goal difference than the other two at the end of the season. Seemples! To guess however, I would say Southampton, Stoke then Newcastle in that order.

1. Southampton - have some top quality players and will come good again - possible top 6 finish 2. Stoke - Will at some point put a 7-8 game run together and will finish top half 3. Newcastle - Lot of their wins have had more than a fair share of fortune recently, they probs have too many points on the board to get releagated, but can see them struggling again.
All could depend on the upcoming transfer window though
