Asked why he remained on the bench, Wenger replied: “One single reason – they love me so much here [at Stoke] and I didn’t want to give them an opportunity for them to show me their love."

Arsenal were beaten from the moment their coach left London.
Apart from the last 20mins, no one associated with their club behaved as normal.
The club has a collective nervous breakdown as soon as they see the Brit.

He has his flaws I'll admit but English football is so much the richer for Arsene Wenger. If people could not appreciate the unbeaten side and the way they played football then they are basically saying they have poor judgement or don't actually like football.

Wenger is a stain on the English game and should be deported. Some of the things he has come out with over the years about other people and their teams is nothing short of a scandal.

i noticed that every time the cameras pointed towards wenger the big screen flicked to the team sheet default, all except once and the boothen seemed to enjoy his apperance on the tele

So he didn't leave the bench and make key tactical changes during the first half slaughter because he was afraid of being booed.
No wonder his players aren't willing to put in the effort required to grind out results when it counts.

No true Stoke fan could ever come out with that garbage, unless im missing the sarcasm. That unbeaten side acted the same way in which every Arsenal side has since, cheat cheat cheat. And how that club have spoken about and treated our club and our captain since Ramsey broke his own leg is disgusting. I hate that club, they disgust me. If ever Vale drew them in the cup, I'd want Vale to win.

Much as we all loved ripping into Phil Brown,he stood up and tried to stare out the Boothen. Wenger set his side's tone by hiding. No other word for it either. Hiding. Advantage Stoke.

I love how we are the catalyst for so many tactical innovations. First we had players putting the ball anyway except out for a throw in, players standing directly in front of throw in takers, advertising hoardings moved closer to the pitch and now we have managers deliberately adjusting their behaviour in preparation for the game. Fantastic.

He couldn't really say "because I'm a gutless wanker and my team is a reflection of me". They'd lost before they even set foot on the pitch. But for the ref and his assistant, it would have been a rout.

The last ten or so games of their unbeaten season was played not to get beaten Their football in the last ten games wasn't great. That season is muchly over rated.

That's bizarre, how can you inspire your players to go out and play, and not be put off by the atmosphere, if you openly admit that you're too intimidated by it to even leave the bench.
From the first time they played at the Brit in the premiership, the Arsenal team have been starting off at a disadvantage, because even their own manager is (often subliminally), telling them that they are about to face all their worst nightmares, I bet even their coach driver's sat nav has the Brit saved as "room 101".
Its vitally important that this continues, and that every Stoke fan out there does whatever they can to stop Arsenal getting rid of Wenger.

We will miss Wenger when he retires...yeah he can be a bad loser and obnixious but it adds to the spice of the occasion. Lets be honest Hughes is bland.

People seem to imply that Wenger was too intimidated to step out from the dugout but I don't see anything to suggest that. His quote only suggests that he didn't want to give the Stoke fans the opportunity to vent their anger. It may have been part of his game plan to try and keep the focus on the pitch and not on him. Imagine the noise if his antics on the touch line stirred up a load of Stoke fans...adding unnecessary fuel to the fire may not have been in Arsenal's best interests.

I've said it many times the shit storm wenger created following the Ramsey assassination , continues to work against his own team . Year after year .he's raised the temperature at the Brit to levels we only see for that one game .

We beat them 2-1 and after the game he was decent and reasonable. 3 days later and 150 miles away he started talking rubbish about our players deliberately injuring theirs. He could have defused the aftermatch of the Ramsey incident at anytime and chose not to. Utter crap which set the tone for years to come.

I've said it many times the shit storm wenger created following the Ramsey assassination , continues to work against his own team . Year after year .he's raised the temperature at the Brit to levels we only see for that one game . Spot on. We get posts on here from time to time moaning about the lack of atmosphere at the Brit these days but lack of atmosphere is NEVER a problem when Arsenal visit us. The minute the Arsenal coach turns up at the Brit every Stokie knows that he or she has to give of his or her best to help the team over the line. It can't all be down to two dodgy FA Cup semifinals over 40 years ago. The current "edge" started with the first game against Arsenal after promotion to the Prem. Van Persie got sent off for attacking our keeper and Adebayor fouled Ryan and got it back in spades and Wenger's comments after the match were less than charitable. Every game since then has upped the ante - the media focus on the Ramsey incident - that was unfortunate but Arsenal's mean spirited response dug them deeper into a siege mentality which does them no favours at all. I doubt if things will change for the better (as far as Arsenal are concerned) until their is a change of manager - Wenger now admits that he hides when he comes to the Brit and, as often as not, so do some of his team.
