Perhaps not so much Ireland's game but Ireland was playing and Walters was missing and Palacios still got on the bench who the hell comes in if Ireland is out?

Strange how the club site report says Huth may return, in the headline, yet the official blog of Hughes' press conference (on The Wall) includes no reference to the big man at all!

This must be SJW's favourite game of the season.

But can someone answer my question, if we were down to our barebones already and that's with Ireland playing and Walters out, if Ireland is injured and not on the bench who takes his place? Palacios was already on the bench so was Shenton

Centre mid alongside Nzonzi - he does the grafting, harrying, in yer face stuff. Gives the ball to Nzonzi, a simple lay off and build from there They wont be expecting Shenton to play. By all accounts hes tenacious in the tackle and if he performs as well as hes been doing in other development matches then why not??

Can't say I've seen him play other than the few minutes of the cup match but I'd assumed he was more of an attacking minded player? Personally I'd start G-Cam or Whelan, both offer more defensively then fonz who is undroppable as far as I'm concerned!

Will Ireland ever be fit?
I actually like him as a player. He's a good and intelligent footballer.
He can't string more than 5 games together and every time he looks like being fit, he gets injured.

We brought him back to early and he broke down. The lad needs a break to get back 100% tip top and not rushing him back imo. This game isnt the be all and end all of our season....(although you would think so with some of the doom mongering panty wetters on here. Ive never seen so many men menstruating and 'synchronising in my life!!!!!) If things DO go tits up on Saturday and either Wilson,Bardsley or Shawcross is injured then Cameron would slot in at the back. We get on with it Thats my take on it anyway and I think we'll win tomorrow Give Shenton a chance!!

I thought he did some good things on Tuesday night. He did some shit things as well and he seemed to tire quickly, but he isn't a right winger so in some respects, it was to be expected.

I'm amazed that more than a few people are seriously suggesting we start Shenton. Really?
