I believe that if we don't sign a centre half we will have a staggeringly good chance of going down.

Are they in a relegation battle or good enough to challenge for a champions league spot?

Some of the happy clappers on here will go into meltdown when it finally dawns on them that we could be in for a struggle. We could easily be bottom 3 by xmas.

Have to agree with this post we are in a mess the current crop of players are just not good enough we still do not score anywere near enough goals the defence is all over the place injuries are piling up & suspensions are coming very soon mainly for defenders. Hope i am wrong but i think we will be in the bottom 3 for xmas just hope Hughes can turn things round in the second half of the season.

There are 5 points separating us (12th) from Leicester(bottom). Equally, there are 5 points separating us from Swansea(7th). And we have beaten more sides above us than below us.
It just depends on whether your glass is half full or half empty. There is no shape to this season at all yet.
On a luckier day we would have won today, or at least, not lost.

They will all have certain things on common namely they a)won't score enough goals b) will be soft at the back c) won't spend a lot on players and d) bemoan their luck re: results and injuries Anyone who doesn't think we are in a relegation battle is sticking their head in the sand IMHO

What about teams that can win away at Man Shitty and Spuds? What sort of science is that? Over the season there will be 3 worse teams than us. Gouranga.

Expectations are now through the roof. 3 years ago when I questioned why the expectation was so low despite spending 100 million pounds I was greeted with derision and told that Stoke are always in a relegation battle and it's a miracle to survive.
Suddenly the money has gone but now we are expected to win every game.
How come?

We should be beating these.

Results like today are not the ones that are damaging us.
Its the likes of the Villa, Leicester, and Burnley results.
We played well today.

Simply put we are not playing very well and week on week we don't seem to improve in some very crucial areas. Add to this a lack of recruitment in the summer and a fairly grim injury list and its a recipe for a team to struggle. It's nothing to do with expectations its facing the reality of the situation.
