Just put a fiver on Soton winning 3-1 I've done HT Villa FT Draw at 16/1 - I'd like to think Southampton will get back into this but it's looking like a repeat of when Villa did a job on us at the Brit earlier in the season so far. Southampton dominating possession but they aren't turning it into enough clear cut chances! Well done sir.

Just over 25,000 there, can't imagine Villa have had a Premier League crowd that low for a long time.....

I'll settle for that! Pretty poor game in terms of entertainment value really, only five shots on target in the game and only one of those for Villa. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they'd only had 23 shots on target in 11 games prior to tonight so make that 24 shots on target from 12 games, Sergio Aguero has had 7 more than that on his own apparently! Shooting is way down in the league, that and defense and set piece scoring and defending are a dying art.

Pelle has looked out of touch tonight; completely out-muscled for every ball. He looked like a world beater in the first half of the cup game when we gave him the freedom of Stoke on Trent. Barring his second goal, I thought he looked a complete carthorse when we got tighter to him in the second half. He's looked a cracking finisher so far this season, but not a player that can make space for himself that's for sure. Looked easily marked out of the game tonight and surely won't be much longer before teams suss him out?

Southampton were quite good really. mate if they cant beat a crap one dimensional side like The Villa i wouldn't call them good, this is the worst Villa side i can remember and i include the 86/87 relegation side in that, at least they went out and had a go, crowd was 25,000 worst home league gate for 15 yrs, i cant believe Lambert is getting away with so much AMC got crucified for less, some people elsewhere have slated Southampton for only bringing 1,500, well i reckon thats a good effort for a monday night game on sky, not to mention being charged 41 fucking quid to watch that dross

Stubborn defence (more than most, which ok is not saying much - see us), the odd quick break and Benny Boy back May not ne pretty but will see the current management team firmly ensconced for another season

Southampton will slide down the table

Southampton will slide down the table Well of course they will. They're not going to finish second are they? They won't be much lower than sixth or seventh though, which, given the upheaval they suffered during the summer would be a great achievement. And they've got a really decent chance of doing very well in the League Cup.

Has march tipped Saints for relegation yet? Well he's predicted them to get less than ten points from Christmas onwards so they should just about escape it.
