Brilliant career. One of my favourite comedians and it was an honour to finally see him live this year. Let the haters hate.

Lee Evans has decided to quit comedy after a glittering career lasting over 20 years.
In a statement released today, Evans said "To be honest i'm fucking gobsmacked that anyone found a cheap, unfunny, ridiculously sweaty man funny in the first place but as soon as i discovered that i could do a really poor imitation of Norman Wisdom and cross it with an embarrasingly obvious rip off of Michael Crawford in 'Some Mothers do 'ave 'em' i thought i'd run with it and see how long i could stretch it out for. I've managed to con the public into thinking that a cringeworthy 70s style humour with a bit of awkward and clumsy plagiarism of Wisdom is actually my own style and still funny..the thick bastards! But i've got away with it for as long as i think i can before my few remaining fans rumble it so i think it's time to quit while i'm ahead so they can erroneously label me as some kind of Comedy legend despite managing to make myself look like a proper comedian by doing the same kind of gags that the Chuckle Brothers do on kids TV. it's been a blast pulling off this fraud and i've made a mint doing it! Cheers Suckers!"
Evans will finish his tour by entertaining literally tens of people that have bought tickets for his shows before retiring so the rest of us don't have to suffer his inane, puerile shit any longer on cheap chatshows hosted by people who can no longer get A-list stars as their thunder was stolen when Graham Norton came along so they now have to book who they can get.

About as funny as a verruca.
Shame Dave and Gold will keep rolling him out.
Each to their own I guess though.

Retiring will be the funniest thing he's done.

Enjoyed Mousehunt. Havn't seen out of Lee for ages, I preferred Phil Cool's facial distortions.

I remember seeing him very early in his 'career' doing some comedy sketch set in a Petrol Station. I thought back then - who is this unfunny c&£t?? He seems to have somehow become even less funny since.

Going against the grain here, one of my favourite comedians. Have had the pleasure of seeing him live and by fluke met him once and the best bit about him is, he is such a genuine, humble man and he is still shocked that so many people come to watch his shows and is so greatful for that! Saw him at the P4U arena a few weeks ago and he again was brilliant!

Saw him live in Edinburgh in the mid 90s not long after he found fame and can honestly say he brought the house down in a massive theatre.
Sadly, I don't think his act evolved much beyond those initial few years of silly walks and faces. I'm not sure how genuinely funny or witty he is as you never see him on panel shows unlike say Sean Lock, Lee Mack, David Mitchell, Frankie Boyle, genuinely quickwitted comics.
