Surprised at that to be honest. Decent manager I thought.

Lower league clubs seem to fly through managers.

Not so long ago, Whelan was praising him to the skies! Dave Whelan's a moron to be fair though. He's about the only person on the planet that thought holding a minutes silence for Maggie's death would be a clever idea. Fool.

They're in the bottom three!
Pugsley do you have any idea of what makes a good manager? Passing the ball nicely on the way to a relegation scrap when your team should be pushing for the play-offs is not good management.

I think he's a top bloke who's done a lot for Wigan

He came out after the match last Saturday saying that most of the players who played against Bolton will not play again under him, or if they do they would have to wait a long time for the chance to play again, it just seems managers can't give out criticism of players in public.

I wonder if Sol Campbell will be in the paper telling us how football is xenophobic as the number of german people managing and coaching in football is too low

Bit of an odd one, this, came in on the back of a disastrous 4 months under Owen Coyle, following relegation, when they were 6 from bottom, and jet-propelled them to the FA Cup Semis and into the playoffs, ( with pretty well the same players as Coyle ) no one could deny that is impressive.
Hardly any summer signings, and dubious ones at that, and here we are, my WA season ticket holding mate says he could score more than their strike force and defend better at the same time.
How a star can wane
Bet McLeish and Davies are quickly in the frame

I'm surprised how badly they've done so far this season because I rate Rosler as a manager as well. The trouble is though once you lose the dressing room and the backing of the players there's rarely a way back no matter how good you are at your job. The way in which they imploded and shipped three goals in the space of 10 minutes last week in a local derby wasn't a sign they were fighting for their managers job. Malky Mackay is the current bookies favourite and he'd probably be ideal in terms of what they need.

Unlikely McLeish - now manager of Genk.
If it wasn't further north, I'd think a TP job, given Dave Whelan's past record of supporting his managers. Maybe someone like Steve Round, who is after his first job.

Name me any manager, successful or not, that hasn't had a bad spell? You could count them on one hand. Our own manager has had his bad spells, yet still outperforms your messiah. Have a go at me all you want, you just mug yourself off time and time again.

Maybe someone like Steve Round, who is after his first job. Clubs should be taking a serious look at Eddie Howe. Superb job at Bournemouth and a really decent job on limited funds at Burnley. Shame his wife gets homesick in the north. He'd be a brilliant choice for us one day in the future.

I thought he was a decent manager, he set Brentford well on the way to their promotion last season before taking on the Wigan job, where he got them into the play-offs from mid-table as well as taking them to the FA Cup semis. The only reason he has really bit the bullet is because they have had a poor start to the season. Its a bit harsh because he could still have turned them around, plus they won at Derby a few weeks back, but these days, you get no real time to turn a club around. Shame really, but he will find another champ/league 1 job before too long.

Did not see this one coming. Though he was a great choice, with the exception of Owen Coyle, Wigan have gotten the last couple of managers right.

He did a great job at Brentford and got Wigan into the play offs. They seem to have sacked him at the first sign of trouble.

He did a great job at Brentford and got Wigan into the play offs. They seem to have sacked him at the first sign of trouble. Player power for you. If he's lost the dressing room and the players don't want him then it's a downhill spiral that's hard to recover from. If it was the Leeds chairman who had sacked him then I reckon he'd have a case. Whelan is normally pretty measured
