Anyone got a really good band name they'd like to donate? My mates are forming a band and they've said I can join provided I come up with a really good name. Perhaps you've always had a really good idea for band name but now realised you'll never form a band, all donations considered!
I've come up with a few myself but they've all been rejected. Most of us are stoke fans but it isn't a football band and very few of the songs seem to be about football. So far the band is led by my mate Decks, with Plezzie and Gi (brothers)
They did a few warm up practice gigs over the summer as 'decks and the referendums' to cash in on the Scottish referendum craze in the news but all that's gone now plus it isn't a very good name.
I suggested 'the referee's an endum' but they said it was toss and that my chances of joining the band are now hanging by a thread, so I need help

Moustache cash stash. Use this and you will go far. I expect royalties will be forthcoming.

Thanks, some good suggestions! Decks has added that whoever suggests the band name can get free tickets to all the gigs so long as we use that name. So I'd give credit where it a due. The band name is my only hope of getting in, as I can't play any instruments or sing properly. Decks has said I can be the 'band valve' , ie jump around at the front of the stage squealing, as a kind of band mascot, in the way that Bez danced for the Happy Mondays and Chas Smash did in madness. I really want to be the band valve for moustache cash stash/ant and decks

When I worked in Mental Health I always thought 'Section 136' ( one three six )would be a good name for a band.

Four Wanks. Keep the tickets though thanks. If you haven't got the imagination to come up with your own name then a dunner reckon the sound'll be up to much.

Yes- although my place to begin with would be limited to being the band valve. It's something to build on and at least I'd be in. Loads of bands have had members who were not proper musicians but good for morale , like Sid Vicious or Stu Sutcliffe. "Section 136" / the band are good yes, decks has real star quality, everyone says so. The band is still finding it's feet but destined for big things. I'll also need a pop star name if accepted but first things first, I need a winning band name. Some good suggestions so far.
'So far so dad' was my last rejected suggestion before 'the referees an endum' . 'Frog-hammer ' was also deemed to be toss. You can see why I'm on here asking for help

Liking your band name kbillyh but probably best if we choose a name that can be displayed on posters in public, the next rehearsal gig is at the community centre, we've got another coming up at the charity shop where Plezzie and gi's mum works

I was in a group called 'Prime Time Chaos'. We then changed that to
'Enus Clyde and Doobius Stone's All Star Blues Band'.
I was known as Professor Smoke.
We didn't get further than a battle of the bands charity gig at Tees-side Poly, although we did finish 3rd (out of nine).

Im getting some good inspiration here, thanks folks.
Also liking 'Alsager Noise' but none of us is from alsager and we probably won't gig as far as there. Both Plezzie and Gi are banned from driving at the moment. Professor smoke is a great pop star name. After reading main board, I'm leaning towards 'Everyone's favourite tool' as my pop name tribute to Garth.

It's not quite as far as Alsager and on the bus route.

OMG some fat band names here. I'm literally spoilt for choice. I ran a few of these past Decks and he is in favour of any band name which includes the word 'Decks'. (He is American).
Plezzie thinks we should have a different name every night, so that 'people come to see the music on the night, and not based on any preconceptions from reviews or previous gigs'. Personally i don't think that would work (marketing suicide) but i don't have a full say yet as im not technically in the band yet.
I just suggested 'Marketing suicide' as a name but they said it was toss. They're hard core musicians close to getting a record deal so theyre a tough bunch to please (apart from Plezzie, he's easy going).

What kind of music do you play? Who are your influences? (Sorry if already mentioned)

I thought of 'Big Gay Following' on the back of this but it's already been done. Decks has a high opinion of himself and is confident he will draw a big crowd of female followers

What kind of music do you play? Who are your influences? (Sorry if already mentioned) This is a difficult one as any mediocre or new band that gets this question always trots out the same answers and it sounds like an accident waiting to happen. I will have to put some thought into this as if i fail to be in the band proper as 'band valve', i'll certainly have a hand in marketing/PR and the style of the logos/clothes etc. If pushed i would say traditional pop / rock but with english feel, so Beatles/Kinks/Jam/Specials/Wonder Stuff/Franz Ferdinand/The Zutons/Kaiser Chiefs but Im aware that sounds very cliched even as im typing it. It looks like Febs will be joining the band soon (grrr) but at least he can play an instrument (bass) and he will bring a different feel as he is a massive fan of the Fall, and a load of bands ive never heard of and am just looking some up now on wikipedia (Big Star, MC5). His contribution to the band name suggestion is 'your granny on bongos' (Im not a big fan but the others laughed) Decks did say the name shouldnt necessarily reflect the music we play and should be a good 'stand alone name'.

Yes- its a tightrope. I don't think we should alienate anyone. We should be inclusive. Although I would draw the line at shooting video clad in leather shorts writhing in marmalade (been done anyway)
