We need safe-standing and to get all the singers together. That will a) encourage others to join in and b) to try out the odd new song because you wont be doing it by yourself. It is no mystery that away supporters produce the best atmosphere - BECAUSE THEY ALL CONGREGATE IN THE SAME AREA. Im convinced football is run by idiots. There are some obvious simple solutions around but clubs are so focused on TV revenue they have literally forgotten about the matchday experience for the average fan
I agree with your sentiment, unfortunately the fans who put up with travelling, the British winter weather, and the exorbitant ticket price are the exceptional fans, not the average "fans" who sit in their armchair at home or possibly go to the pub.

A few years back there was a rendition of Ricardo Fuller, City's number 10 against Liverpool and that has to be the loudest I've heard us on tv. Commentators were all over it and they homed in on some purple faced bloke in his late 50's early 60's who was having a mental. Bloke looked like he'd been drinking solid for week and was having the time of his life At the West Ham away game, when Ric got THAT goal, the chant hardly stopped to the end of the game. Truly wonderful atmosphere amid the dejected cockerneees

What a goal, what a player! I'm seriously tempted by the idea of popping to a Millwall game at some point this season. Imagine if we got them in the Cup!

Don't get me wrong cus I actually quite like Crystal Palace FC, and they do generate a decent atmosphere in one small part of the Holmesdale, but they're a pretty edgeless club aren't they. There's nothing wrong with that of course but it really can't ever compare to being at a place like Ninian Park when the home supporters are ten feet away from you screaming like madmen. It's all well and good singing and clapping lots but without being able to instill that small fear in the opposition that today might be the day they die it's very much in vain. Our atmosphere is generally mediocre now and for journalists to still rate it so highly isn't a compliment to us, it's an insult to the rest of the league. We have a much higher peak than most other clubs and I still think that despite our atmosphere being generally wank now we will always maintain just a little something that intimidates referees into giving us more than our fair share of decisions at home, but I think seeing us being ranked so consistently highly in these sorts of things is actually quite depressing. Agreed. Our atmosphere is mediocre these days compared to years gone by

It's easy to harp on, but back in the day there used to be a very, very edgy atmosphere at a lot of grounds.
It was aimed mostly at away fans but it did generate a hostile atmosphere that spilled over into the game.
Our main hostility these days appears to be saved for Arsenal and the Shit.
Grrrrrr....
