Bego
Cameron Ryan Wilson (by default) Pieters
Walters N'zonzi Adam Moses
Bojan Diouf
Slightly more 442 with Bojan dropping deeper to collect the ball.
Our ex-Barca forward's inclusion may come as a surprise to many but we saw enough glimpses to see that he needs to play. He can pick a pass and has the talent but his confidence is on the deck right now but the only way to rectify it is by playing through it.
Jon gets the nod as he probably deserves it after his effort last night where for the majority of the game he was our best player.

We certainly looked more likely to score goals in that system once Charlie was on the pitch. What do you think about giving Bojan another chance? He didn't set the world alight last night but in my opinion he needs more minutes.

We are on a loser because of naive team selection tonight days ago I said Saturday's players should not be in the stadium Wednesday to lose two to suspension and have tired legs in the others a crushing defeat in morale terms is crass management and to ignore the real peril we are in The management didn't create the suicidal boom and bust investment strategy but tonight they mad the situation materially worse by their own actions . Equally the bargain basement strategy exploded in our faces as bojan in particular was so ruthlessly exposed as no more a player at this level than break Shea better individually yes but impact in this league no Here we go with your doom and gloom... Never once positive.

If Sidwell doesn't start on Saturday, it's hard to see him ever starting.
Still not sure he'd play Adam from the off if he goes for more of a 4-4-2. It's one thing when you're chasing a cup game and another in a league game.
I wouldn't be flabbergasted if he did, but still think he's probably more likely to go:

I felt like he rushed things last night, desperate to impress. If he calms down and uses his head a bit more, I think he will be fine. He just needs more game time and a confidence boost.

I still believe it will come but he'll have to play centrally not out wide.

We need pace out wide, get past the defenders and whip the ball into the box to Diouf, which rules out Walters, I know Arnie is not firing at the moment, but if he is not played, how can he start to fire?

-----------------Bego------------------ Cam-------Ryan---Wilson----Muniesa -----------Nzonzi---Adam------------- Arni------------Bojan-----------Moses -----------------Diouf------------------ Has to be this for me aswell with bojan pushing higher to make it 4-4-2, we could all see glimpes of a good team second half last night, i know everyones on arnies back but with how bad pieters played last night i think arnie did well was looking to attack linked up with bojan well and tracked back and showed strength. if moses was on the pitch last i feel we could of won COME ON STOKE!!!!!

Begovic Cameron - Shawcross - Wilson - Muniesa Moses - Adam - N'zonzi - Arnautovic Diouf - Bojan I've gone with Muniesa because I've come to the conclusion you need an overlapping fullback to get the best out of Arnautovic. It's no coincidence that he plays a stormer every time he goes on international duty. In the Austrian team he has Fuchs making runs in behind him so defenders back off him. Last night two defenders were on him every time he got the ball because they knew Pieters would sit back.

Bego Cameron Shawcross Wilson Pieters
N'Zonzi Sidwell Adam
Diouf Moses
Walters
I'd play the above with Walters down the middle. I don't rate Diouf in the middle on his own. The ball doesn't stick up there for my liking when Diouf plays there. He needs to play off somebody holding the ball up for him, knocking balls on into the channels. Walters is the best option with Crouch out to do this job and is playing well at the moment.

The team will probably be Bego Cameron Shawcross Wilson Pieters Nzonzi Muniesa Walters Adam Moses Diouf A few issues here: We havn't seen Muniesa at CDM but I'd prefer Geoff at RB than anyone else available Could try Sidwell at CDM but he hasnt looked comfortable in a Stoke shirt yet (of the limited time hes had) Walters had a great game last night and we all know he puts maximum effort in but he isn't really effective on the right, still I think Hughes will start him there This exactly, with maybe Sidders for Muni. Be interesting to see what Hughes does here as Whelan and N'Zonzi seem to be the concrete pair but I for sure can't see him starting Adam so deep with how West Ham and in particular Alex Song's form has been as of late. Walters will be on the right for sure, purely for his defensive work and tracking back now we have Cameron at RB. Cameron is suspect positionally at times and Walters will be there for protection if nothing else. Adam has to start after the cameos the past few weeks. Game changer yesterday and the only guy in the squad who seems to be able to deliver consistant and threatening dead ball deliveries into the box. Bojan was woeful with this last night. Direct and drives the team forward and will work well with three good runners around him in Diouf, Moses and Walters. As a four they have an ability to cause West Ham problems and putting their defense on the back foot is exactly what we need to do. Arnie doen't cut it for me at the moment and as a front four Moses far exceeds him in terms of direct pace and the ability to draw fouls and opportunities for others.

I'd continue to bring him off the bench until he starts putting some performances in, if ultimately that doesn't happen, then I really don't know where we go with him.

Following the last few dire performances especially in the first half, Hughes really needs to get the lads up for the game and come out the blocks firing! It's easy getting up for games at Man City or against Chelsea but we seem to be incapable of getting up for games against teams in and around us in the league and end up starting sloppily and giving ourselves too much to do in the second half. We are not gonna stay up on points gained against the big boys. Another poor performance and loss could see the fans run against the team and manager however a win could really "kick start our season"
