I like Nastasic. Agree has loads of potential and would work well with Ryan. I don't think Assaidi is the answer and maybe we should look at terminating the loan. Yarmolenko sounds ideal but will he come? I still think we need another DM option though. Cattermole would still be a decent and realistic target. Could be Sparky's new Robbie!

A team that does not pass backwards and the lump it every game.
Also a striker who can score.

A good attacking midfielder, so far ours have offered pretty much nothing to the team, I'm not putting Adams goals down, I just don't think he offers anything else and Irelands having a poor start to the season, if we are continuing with one we need one that can work well between the oppositions midfield and defence.

A more physical CAM isnt a bad shout. A Dempsey esque player could be just what we need

I think we need a striker. Crouch has been great, still is, but we need someone younger. Also a right wing would be nice. There are plenty of players I could dream of us signing, but the question is how much are we going to spend? From the way things have gone in recent windows I'm not expecting us to be big January spenders unless we buy Moses. Hoping we do splash cash in the summer window though.

Get Moses signed up permanently. Odemwingie back from injury. That should do it. Oh and if he's available….Cristiano Ronaldo.

Im not doubting crouch is a good player, however, especially on Saturday, it was all too predictable as regards to Crouch. When Diouf came on it did open things up better though. So maybe its time to push Diouf ahead of Crouch as the main striker if we are looking to save cash.

I would like (other than a named striker) to see Arnie given a chance in a more central role up front. He is one player in the squad who is powerful enough to create space without getting knocked off the ball, and Bojan should be given more time on the pitch. You can see that he's got class and needs more time, instead of sitting on the bench!

Id like us test QPR's resolve and go for Charlie Austin. We miss odenwingie more than any of us could of ever imagine. Id try lennon. Think we are pissing in the wind with Arnie. I like the lad but hes so frustrating and there is notba great real of end product. Take a punt on lennon if the price is right. Nastasic from city and lucas from liverpool are good shouts.why do we find ourselves needing at least 4 players every window. Spend good quality cash and reap the rewards. Fantasy land me thinks!

I see we're being linked with Clint Dempsey ( as mentioned above ) ...........about 2 seasons too late. If it's true it really has to be said that we're in danger of fucking up this season due to lack of spending and bargain basement bin shopping...............I could be wrong though, as PO last Jan. could have been seen in a similar light.

Considering we have spent nout over the lest 2/3 seasons we should be looking to spend a lot of money to bring in some top quality players especially number 10 quality sitting midfield and centered back! Look at the likes of Hull West Ham and Southampton, they have all spent a lot of money very wisely and right now it looks like it's working very well for them. As TP said you have to keep moving forward in this league or you go backwards and that is something we need to be wary of!

My amended post from an earlier thread: 1. Transfers in: 1.1. Stoke's continuing major weakness is lack of goals. Naturally it would be nice to sign a striker who will guarantee goals, but they are few and far between and invariably beyond Stoke's budget in terms of transfer fee and/or wages. Nowadays it seems the agents share can be a block to a purchase. IMO Stoke are prepared to spend big money for the right player but not bust the pay policy and upset the whole squad. Other clubs have succeeded at buying successful goal scorers, Stoke need to follow suit. How about Andre-Pierre Gignac, Britt Assombalonga, or could MH persuade Carlos Tevez to rejoin him?! 1.2. Signing Moses should be a priority. 1.3. If Stoke can get Yamalenko that would be brilliant, and Assaidi could be released. He may be going back anyway. 1.4. Naturally if Hughes and the club are aware of any potential bargain signings who would strengthen the squad then they should be signed up as Stoke are facing keen competition for players and do not have the pulling power of other clubs in terms of money, European football, big following, etc. But IMO strengthening the squad is not a major issue now, the priority is to get better first choice players and in Stoke's situation that is best done by developing our own either from the academy, or purchasing players from lower leagues, or top clubs surplus young players. 2. Transfers Out: 2.1. Palacios 2.2. If 1.1 above can be achieved then Crouch or Walters could be sold if the price is right. Each has their particular qualities which would be missed, but the objective is to improve the team and there is no sense on having ageing players sitting on the bench who could bring in revenue. 2.3 One of the toughest decisions that the MH management team have to make is who to let go, whom they have purchased. It's hard to admit you made a mistake. IMO their acquisitions since they took over have not been a roaring success apart from Odemwingie and Bardsley. Where they can take credit is the improvement in form and improved utilization of players like Whelan, Adam, N'Zonzi, and Wilson and the continued excellent performances of Begovic, Shawcross, and Crouch. However I think it is still too early to be moving on the recent acquisitions; maybe next summer if they fail to make major contributions later this season. 2.4. Finally, we have to recognize that the big clubs may come fishing for our best players. Naturally the club is going to say they are not for sale, but the reality is that everyone has a price and it would be churlish to stand in the way of a player who wants to play at the top level, i.e. European Champions League. I just hope Stoke have players locked into long contracts they will ensure good revenue to buy out. Tevez ??? ??? ??? Maybe Hughesy could persuade Kompany to rejoin him too!

It totally depends on injuries, form and ACON.
We could potentially require, depending on our points haul as well, replacements for Huth, Whelan, Odemwingie, Moses, Diouf and Assaidi just to cover losses in the squad before we can even think about adding to it.
If Arnie hits form that is one of the wingers covered. If Cameron finds consistent form in the middle that is Whelan covered. If Wilson's patchy form continues then we will need a centre half.

I am aware of that and have even pointed it out during a discussion with Trouserdog previously..........none the less we didn't spend 7/8 million as it turned out and that was what I was referring to with my comment. No doubt wages are an issue for us with FPP so maybe buying is not a real option anyway.........I am aware of that too

Really need solid cover for Whelan, a striker, a centre half, possibly another winger and to sign Moses permanently! Nothing is urgent so essentially I'd like any one or two of those in January, preferably a big signing that'd change our season...

Harry Kane is a good shout. He was snubbed by Pochettino at the weekend despite performing well in midweek. Maybe we could offer him first team football and he could be Crouch's long term replacement.
