It's upsetting to think the vic has gone and more upsetting to think nothing had been done to the land. The guy is right as well regarding the town as the area died when the ground was demolished. The only positive light is that if it stays derelict for a 100 years we may move back to our rightful home when the brit wears out.

Tbh, I'd rather have the patch of derelict waste-land than a soulless Aldi carpark. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the council fronted up a couple of hundred Gs to have it landscaped so that people could respect that small patch of Staffordshire.

Would love us to buy back the land and build a Victoria Ground Mark II there.

What they did to Highbury is brilliant if only many others had the chance to do the same.

It just highlights how wank the Council and St Modwen have been with the land.

I worked for Stoke council for years and they are a bunch of corrupt, incompetent bastards (not the workers, some of the bosses). This should be made into a kids play area, with a football pitch etc. This could always be removed if they decide to build but they never will. I would like to think that kids could play nogger there - I know it's only a place, but christ what a place. i can still smell the bovril and see Peter hewitt coming round the front of the ground like it was yesterday

Took a walk past last weekend. There is something about the place still. Brings a tear to the eye.

I've lived down by the Vic all my life, went to St Peter's school right on the Boothen End and used to love playing up the Vic's floodlights as a kid and using the old training pitches for kickabouts. It was a sad day that they came and demolished the Vic.
Edited to add that this part of the BBC article is wrong.
NS Scooters are still there in the old SCFC Social Club building, or at least they were yesterday.

Out of the grounds featured, Stoke is the only one not redeveloped. It says so much about St Modwen and the running of the local council.
