Just seen on the beeb report about ticket prices some Stoke fans (whilst wearing an away shirt) are going to watch Borussia Dortmund matches.
Any on here?
German treatment of fans, quantity of fans, transport, experience etc should be the standard for over here but alas we just can't do it.
We could learn a lot from Orlando City. Far better off the pitch than us

Just seen it myself - the guy who spoke to the reporter was definitely a Stokie as well judging by his accent.

This seems an odd one. I doubt "ticket prices" are at the heart of this whatever the report claimed, unless they just happen to live in Dortmund any ticket price differential would be eliminated 10 times over by the extra cost of flights and accommodation. I suspect it's just a good crack going over to Germany for a game and they probably have a few mates over there If I'm wrong, someone tell me and I'll hold my hands up!

I think the Stoke fans interviewed are not living in Stoke.
I live in Amsterdam so I know some people who make the trip by car over to Germany for a weekend piss-up and to catch a game. Its possible doing it from London as well and going through the Channel Tunnel

Do we still have British forces in Germany? I was chatting to a couple of Preston fans at the Freiburg game who are in the forces in Germany. They just came along to get their footy fix and sling a load of ale down their necks...(which was damn tasty I might add) Happens quite a lot pre-season I would imagine

We have just booked to go over there for their last game of the season at the end of May. Should be a great experience

Me and the youngest are going to the Hoffenheim game on December 5th.
The only problem being that the Bundeliga don't announce the dates of games until 4-6 weeks before the game.
This means match day x can be anything between Friday evening and Sunday afternoon which makes booking flights and accommodation tricky until the dates are finally announced.
Hoffenheim is a Friday night game so it should be spectacular - but weather might make the Brit seem warm.
Currently learning the club song which is pretty much like "we'll be with you" and "City til I die" only in German.

I do follow Dortmund my self after stoke of cocoursebut imagined getting tickets would be difficult.

I don't think any of them are claiming to be Dortmund suppoters as such, just people going to watch football. Something most of us used to do (i.e. watch other sides not just Stoke) but rarely do nowadays re cost (travel as well as tickets).

I know a few people who have season tickets for the two Milan teams as well as Bayern, Dortmund etc, as its that cheap. They just go when they feel like it.

They choose Dortmund for the famous atmosphere, singing and watching football on a terrace of course. Its feral and reminiscent of english football in the eighties but with an average attendance of 80,000!
I think who wins the game is of less importance to those who go.
Its just a good day out, Ive been wanting to try and catch game there for some time

I would class myself as a Dortmund supporter - second to Stoke of course.
The firm I worked for had some links with Dortmund and I went over there a few times a long while since. This was in the days when they won the European cup so there was some glory involved.
Since nearly doing a Leeds United Herr Klopp has obviously revived things recently with his high tempo high pressing style using largely academy players and cheap buys.
The team is in a bit of a slump at present due injuries, players coming back from the world cup (sounds familiar)and their style having now been sussed.
As far as support goes - after the recent 1-0 defeat at home to Hamburg at the end all the fans stayed behind for 20 mins singing the clubs anthem. Not surprisingly the players who stayed on the pitch became a bit emotional. Can't see that happening at the Brit.
They have a complete department of workers who run schemes for the fans - partly to combat racism and neo-Nazism.
If you want to go there is a partner travel agent accessible through their official web site - don't try ringing them but an email works eventually.
There is a form of fan ownership which prevents an oligarch or yank or arab taking it over. Personally it is the beer on the terrace and the sausage I am looking forward to.
Of course "they are just a bigger club"
for what it is worth my third team is Motherwell after I saw them at the Vic in the Anglo Scottish tournament - we lost.

Went to watch dortmund vs Hoffenheim at the end of last season, Dortmund won 3-2! It was Lewandowski's last game! The atmosphere was amazing and the German people are very welcoming! Went out with a few of them after the game! There was a few Norwich fans in our hotel and saw some Villa fans as well there! It was a cracking weekend!

Been doing a few jobs in Germany and whenever possible I get to a match, have seen VfB Stuttgart, TSV 1860 München, SV Sandhaisen and Geruhter Fürth. As mentioned beer on the terraces, clean stadia, good food, cheap match tickets, and super friendly fans make it a great experience. The fact that the bogs are clean also doesn't hurt.

I thought Dortmund tickets were hard to come by, how do people get them so easily?? We got ours off one of them Internet ticket sites! We had to pay more than the actually game ticket though! Hard to get six together, we had to get two in the home end and four in the away end
