is it the whole operation?
i read somewhere that PC was keeping the sports betting in UK and it was the gaming (bingo etc) operation that was off shore

It's the sports betting moving offshore, They're keeping the stoke on trent hub for software support and other duties.

They are not moving the call centres etc. but the traders etc. have gone to Gibraltar. Not regulated by the gaming commission in Uk.

Every other betting op is offshore and Bet 365 have been the only ones paying their whack to the taxman..dunner blame them ..especially if it employs more stokies as a result.

I hope Denise and Richard will fly home regularly to keep in touch - or do you think they have moved their children offshore as well?

There may well be minimal actual operations offshore, just enough to show "mind and management" is not in the UK. The board will probably fly out to hold board meetings etc, sign documentation, but other than that there may just be a corporate administration outfit keeping their company books over in Gibraltar and the local office of one of the big four accountants auditing them.

I'm not sure it does make that much obvious sense with the point of consumption tax coming in. The benefits of operating out of Gib will be all but eradicated. It was thought that the new tax would see providers come back to the UK, it certainly wasn't anticipated that 365, a company lauded politically and locally for being the only major sportsbook to operate out of the UK and to pay its taxes and levies would go the other way.
Very strange.

Good for them. I still get stung for 5% of my winnings by Mrs. Merkel. Let me put that another way, I will be stung if I ever win a bet.

They are heavily investing in the area
As well as all the Hillside buildings, they are currently knocking the old Sentinel offices down on Forge Lane - in 18 months/2 years there will be a mahoosive Bet365 centre there, on top of the others.
Not surprised they are taking advantage of tax laws though, all the others seem to do it!

HMRC will be tracking them ready to pounce when new laws surely come in for tax dodging.

HMRC will be tracking them ready to pounce when new laws surely come in for tax dodging. The laws surrounding gaming duty itself have already been changed and come into effect on Dec 1st. It matters not a jot that you're in Gib if the client is consuming from the UK from that date. You pay tax.

Apparently it's easier to get licences for other countries when you are regulated in Gibraltar. From November the 1st it wont matter where you are based. If you have UK customers you pay tax. 90% of the staff will stay in Stoke.

Thats more tax evasion that we will have to pay.Oh good. This kind of shit costs us eight billion pounds a year.NHS,schools,housing. its a competitive market. if all the big concerns have allready gone offshore[and i believe they have]then bet 365 would be at a big disadvantage.so to remain competitive they dont really have much choice. i would hazard a guess that bet365 contribute more in taxes than any other bookie.i for one am extremely grateful for what the coates family have done and continue to do so for the people of stoke on trent. if you want to have a go at tax evasion have a closer look at the tory backers.

Did you not read the other posts before accusing the company of causing cancer patients to die?
It's not about tax as new rules stop avoidance, it's about regulation and licences.
Keep up my friend.

For those of you who don't think it's about tax, corp tax on gaming revenues in Gibralter is capped at £425,000 a year...
And its Tax avoidance not evasion, perfectly legal.

The way I see it, the more money Bet365 have, the more likely we are to get more investment in the club. So for SCFC its a good thing.
