Monday we need to keep the team focused on the pitch my friend trevor conducted s survey and he concluded that 55% of goals scored against a team came at the time there was over 85 DB going around the stadia. So lets keep the noise levels down. We can talk at half time when we unpop our flasks.

If a goal is scored in a silent stadium, did it really happen?

Maybe its because teams that regularly score lots of goals play in grounds with shit fans, and plenty of tourists. Liverpool, Man United, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea etc. Regardless its a pretty dull study, and its not a huge margin. Also, you'd you need to prove how broad the study was.

Just spoke to Trevor its pretty much a study he did whilst studying human behaviour during his university years. A professor Arnold Davis concluded it to be correct. I'm only thinking of the team.

I think we'd better refrain from shooting as well, those pesky goals will destroy our focus.

I once knew a Derek Fenelhurst from Swaddlincote who told me that he noticed when his team ( Chesterfield) attacked the noise level would below like a lion in the jungle. They never scored. But they did score wen the crowd went quiet and let the players score

A quiet Old Trafford could be the reason for Man Utd's 20yrs of success?

Isn't that because just before a chance/goal comes along naturally everyone goes quiet. Kinda holds it's breath.

Pedant that I am I really must correct the unit of sound pressure level ( SPL ) used in this thread. The correct unit for SPL is dB and not DB or db. The prefix d stands for deci which is one tenth of the unit which in this case is the Bel.
From a boring old fart who should get out more.

Vizeguy yo are correct it is measured in db not DB my mistake. 85db is generated by a loud ' go on go on go on go on go on go on go on' noise made before a goal but fellow spectators this puts off the attacker he thinks in his head ' i cant think i cant think the noise' or something like that and messes it up. Keith Scott will tell you this. I will try to get Trevor sign up to the web to show his study off. Less noise more goals

Surely if a goal is scored against a team, it is also scored by a team? So, 55% of goals are scored by teams when the noise level is 85dB or more. What a load of tosh this thread is.

I don't understand it, the Brits so quiet these days you could hear a pin drop. Yet we haven't won a single match at home thus far!

Environmental noise levels are measured using the dB A scale - remember the first season in the Prem when the Brit was was recorded at (if memory serves) 140 dBA??? Sound pressure levels are measured in Pascals which have a rather complex relationship to the logarithmic decibel scale ...and I will be out tomorrow night

I'm not too sure about this. The only Trevor that I know is 'Def Trev' from Smallthorne. We called him Def Trev, but it wasn't because he was def, just coz he was a bit of a c**t.
He used to live on Robert Heath Street

Is this thread where Chugga goes when he's no longer being Chugga?
Clever Trevor's research could be pivotal in making us an academically responsive football team. I would like to see the results. Yet I predict many fans will have difficulty waiting until half time to unpop their flasks
