He's played there before
His touch, range of passing, pace, energy would suit the role well.
I think he'd compliment nzonzi well and offer a bit more movement as well as offering forward thinking passes. Nzonzi can add some steel as well as the ball retention abilities.
Nzonzi and Muniesas ability to keep the ball and pass the ball means we could have an extremely classy partnership.
His stint at LB has given him chance to get used to the physicality and sticking his foot in.
He's young enough and good enough the make the role his own given he's up against Adam/Whelan/Cameron/Sidwell.
His attitude is top notch
He scores goals...........

If we needed him, he'd definitely be worth considering, but as it stands its the least of our problems.

I thought he was doing a DJ set at Cafe Del Mar Ibiza when I first saw the title.

Here on the oatcake he's been mentioned as a possible cdm, but I haven't seen any indication that Hughes would play him there. Like in a preseason or early round cup match.

A left back who pops up to score occasionally is what we haven't had since Pejic. Keep him at left back and use him as DM cover when needed.

In one of his interviews after the game, Hughes did mention Muniesa's versatility saying we'd played him at cb and lb - and that he could also play in midfield but hadn't had the chance to do so for us yet. So, who knows, we may see Muni there one day. It would certainly be worth considering if we got an "easier" opponent in the next round.

I probably shouldn't say this after seeing Muniesa score two goals away, but his defensive performance was more than "shaky" in my opinion. Caught out of position too many times, and also looks too slow for a left back. He certainly is a good footballer though, so I think he is more suited to play in a central midfield position.

If we get a good draw in the next round, it'll be interesting to see the team and where Muni plays.
What's going on with Bojan?

I just don't see him as defensively disciplined enough to playing the holding DM role. Similar to our attempts to play Nzonzi there, I suspect he be too easily pulled out of position. Would be very happy to be proved wrong.

What about playing Muni out on the left? I know it sounds mad, but we don't have any left-footed wide players at the moment, Muni obviously has the quality to hurt full-backs, plus he would be good at tracking back and I reckon him and Erik would dovetail perfectly.

Three in midfield that tackle and score goals Its good enough for barca? Whelan is a Defensive Midfielder. His job isn't to score goals. He protects the back four. Muniesa should be our left back against Newcastle. Heck, even a chance at LM would be possible for him I think. Players play by merit under Hughes. Bojan hasn't yet merited a starting XI place in the team. I'd like to see Adam play more often. I think Hughes trusts Ireland more than him and Bojan however. N'Zonzi doesn't tackle half as much as Whelan. Again, it's not his job. Because it works for Barca, doesn't mean it'll work for us.

Why cannot people understand that Whelan is the most disciplined member of the squad, his ability to not allow himself to get drawn forward makes us so tight at the back. If we put a more adventurous player in Whelan spot the back 4 would be more open due to not having as much cover
