Surely he'd be better off taking a loan to a Championship club where he can learn a bit about defending away from the pressure that is Man Utd. He was at Birmingham last season!

According to my Blue Nose friend, Blackett looked dreadful when on loan at Birmingham.

If this lad played for Burnley, would this be happening?. To be honest I don't think he'd get into Burnleys side.

I don't like the term 'fast tracking'. It suggests his elevation to the England squad is inevitable and this just sort of hurries it along.

It does make you wonder. If we were to rewind the clock to when Ryan was a 19 year old defender on the fringes at Man Utd (when they had world class defenders), would he be closer to the England squad than he is now.

He should be fast tracked over the nearest cliff. He was woeful. That said no, if he does get into the England squad it will surely show Woy up to be the absolute clown he is.

According to my Blue Nose friend, Blackett looked dreadful when on loan at Birmingham. He wasn't great, and he was just average in the youth teams. He's taken the step up well though. He let Swansea take a free-kick too quickly, and he lunged in against Leicester after having been fouled a few seconds earlier. Both just inexperience. Otherwise he's actually looked pretty good.

I'm starting to think Woy must be Scottish, he wants to fast-track a youth who got owned by JAMIE BLOODY VARDY at the expense of Ryan who had Aguero in his back pocket the other week?
Fast-track- we're talking about international football here, not a team leader job at Vodaphone.
England can just fuck off.

I'm glad I washed my hands with this shower of shit after the world cup. You cant 'fast track' a football player - they have to learn the craft of defending or attacking etc. To 'fast track' a player like Tyler Blackett, who lets face it, he really isnt Man United quality is he, smacks of desperation in its most extreme form. The likes of Stam, Buchan, McQueen, Pallister, Bruce must be laughing their collective bollocks off - OR quietly shaking their heads.. I washed my hands on England once Bobby Robson left. can beat you both !! i washed my hands on England the day the FA gave Cloughie a TEN [10] minute interview for the managers job, then gave it to fcuking Ron Greenwood

Complaining is one thing, but if you are English you support the team whoever the manager is, whatever is selections and whatever the results.
Turning your back on your country is as bad as it gets.

Blackett ain't fast and he can't track his opponents very well.
Tell Roy that the red and white stripes that Shawcross plays in are those of Southampton and hey presto he's in the England squad.

Personally I don't care whether Shawcross plays for England or not - though Shawcross himself may feel shortchanged and with some justification.
That said there is some method in Hodgson's madness.
He has a youth policy and believes that given we are in such a weak group for the Euros he has a chance to bring on the likes of Chambers, Shaw, Stones and the rest and give the Euros a go but more importantly build for further into the future.
To be an older player in the squad you need to be an established one (Cahill/Rooney etc) - if you are coming in you need to be young and at one of the "top clubs" (Blackett) - or be on your way to one (as likes of Lallana and Shaw were last year)where you will get experience of playing with and against the best and be in or around Europe.
It's loosely based on what Germany has done over the past 10 years where young players made up the core of the squad and largely came from Germany's top sides.
Yes there are exceptions (eg Lambert) - but that's broadly it.
Shawcross doesn't fit into any of those categories. ie he's not young enough, he's not established and because he doesn't play for a top club Hodgson belives he is unlikely to get any better or more rounded as a player.
And whether you like it or not - that - I'm afraid - is it.

When it then turns out that actually, Wilshere amd co are crap, it'll be all youth and excuses in the next few tournaments too. When does it end?

It's getting to the point where Woy the wanker will most likely start picking players from the high street, so long has they have a top 6 club shirt on. Brilliant!

I see Micah Richards is having his say about Roy and his pet players in the same paper.
Is this the same Winter who was supposedly commenting on Ryan's status in another thread yesterday?
Any journalist worth his salt should be asking the obvious questions.
"Woy, can you explain why an unproven player, having played 5 games in a struggling Manchester United side takes preference over the captain of Stoke City who has marshalled a defence for the last 6 years at the top level?.
In addition, could you also elaborate on why you chose to give Shawcross his one and only chance under your reign against an on fire Zlatan Ibrahimovic rather than allowing him to bed in with a game against San Marino? The cynics amongst us would think you had an agenda you owl faced cunt."
