Blame lies with BC partners the VC owners who've effectively asset stripped a decent business. I have many friends there and feel badly for them, mate still working there just told me I know more than he does!

I see they have already made a massive play to blame the networks, Vodafone especially for pulling the plug
from what I have read and know they are pretty greedy folk, VF didnt like the deal so walked away, and EE rejected their demands and P4U just left the table and didnt go back
I started at P4U in 1996 (when it was all one company) before Caudwell split it up into Singlepoint, 2020, Dextra, P4U etc - I moved into Singlepoint and then Voda when they bought us in 2004
The 8 years were hard work, every penny counted, and he was a hard taskmaster, but I met and worked with some fabulous people and made lifelong friendships, including the crew I still sit with at Stoke today!
Thoughts go out to all my friends who are still there

A guy on Breakfast News, inferred that there was something fishy going on with the management's decision making process.
I wonder if there's a deal been done with someone to get part of the company on the cheap.

The owners are venture capitalists I think - its all about the money money money.
VF have extended their partnership with Carphone Warehouse, so its obv not a move to get rid of the competition on the high street.
Sounds to me completely like greed from the owners

We've basically been sent home and told to wait for the administrators to get in touch. Everyone is still in shock about it all really.

Worked there in Compliance/Contract Support for just under two years until this time last year.
Gutted for all my mates there, half of them were made redundant today and loads are still waiting for the axe.

So sorry for all who've lost their jobs, hope there's a rescue package for their sakes but suspect not, fear I'm saying hope you get fixed up with something else really soon. xx
As for the kind of business this has been from start to finish - honestly I'm not so sad, my sadness is this is what we came up with round here, a rape and burn brutalise the employees nick the margin till someone else nicks it bigger operation, not making real things of real value but now I probably just sound like mumf...

but if it is going for a bargain price with zero liabilities ( redundancy, pensions, etc etc ) and with his clout, coupled with the knight in shining armour scenario, he could save it, and make a killing.

Had to ring Vodafone due to me forgetting my password several times and it locking.
Took 20 minutes on hold so I wonder if folk are phoning for jobs.
The song that was Playing to me whilst I was waiting was
I wannnnnnnnna know now, know now can you give me a job.
Ain't a clue who sang it mind.

Well Apple have just invented; Larger screen sizes Contactless payment (NFC) Optical Image Stabilisation on the bigger one The first two inventions were previously denounced by Apple as unnecessary, (I think Apple actually took the piss out of Samsung and Google at the time too). It looks nice though, so that will justify the price.

Terrible for the people who work there; but its how times and business changes. Purely as a business that sells contracts of service providers, there was always going to be a point where either more competitive options came along, or the providers just did it for themselves. You can compare contracts at the click of your fingers, and why not negotiate a better deal with the service provider themselves (without the extra on top for P4U or similar) and make sure there were no blurred lines in terms of contractual liability. I speak only for myself when I had a problem with P4U a few years ago and it took about 4 months to get a very basic problem sorted, and ended up getting a 'gesture of goodwill' of £150 from them too for all of the shite.
If EE, Vodaphone and O2 have all withdrawn in the space of 7 months, that suggests that there is a serious problem at the root of the business.
I hope the folk affected can soon find something else, new opportunities and a fresh start.

Its simply a case of the management getting outmanouvered by carphone warehouse and the networks. Its a shame the employees have to pay but it was a profitable business so im sure they will get something to tide them over.
