In terms of midfield players, I can think of some very obvious alternatives from other clubs, all of which are better than Delph and Colback. To name a few...Noble, Livermore, Huddlestone You could go almost right through the squad, goalkeepers and forwards excepted and make a case for better players being overlooked than are actually in the squad. Defenders - Shawcross, Curtis Davies, Dier (got to be worth a look ahead of Chambers as a defender who can play across the back 4) Midfield - Noble, Livermore, Huddlestone, Cattermole Wingers - Dyer, Routledge There are more than a few players who should be ahead of some of those already in the squad in the pecking order, none more so than our very own Ryan Shawcross. How Mark Noble and Ryan Shawcross aren't regulars in that squad is beyond me really. By all accounts, Mark Noble is West Ham's Ryan Shawcross and massovely underrated. I would absolutely agree with that. I posted something similar on the Mark Noble thread (created to slag him off for his appearance on Goals on Sunday). I have always been impressed with him and when our midfield woes were at their height, would always have loved for us to have signed him. We were linked once, if I remember rightly, when they were relegated. Noble is a super little player and infinitely better than some of the dross, including Wilshire, who have appeared ahead of him for England over the last few years.

I really can't understand why Nathan Dyer hasn't made the squad... like ever. Swansea fans must feel the same as us. He's scored 3 goals in 3 games and set up another. He made Man Utd's admittedly poor defence look like kids down the park, yet he's never even mentioned for England. Bizarre really.

Delphs is awful. Colback is ok, Rose is ok. But this is the standard of footballers we have to choose from now. Embarrassing

Embarrassing ???? if Rose is ok and Colback is ok but Delph is awful then: 1) i can only presume you haven't watched Delph and 2) you're probably the only football fan (after the last season and a bit) that would say the other 2 are better than Delph

I have watched delph, I actually watched him against stoke a few weeks ago, constant wayward passes first half, he doesn't impress me at all. Colback and Rose like I said are ok, nothing special at all, but should be no where near the national team.

Delph and Rose have one thing in common...They both spend more time on their arses than they do their feet.
Delph was embarrassing on the opening day of the season and Rose, well, no more really needs to be said about him. We've seen his antics for both Sunderland and Spurs.

amazing how apparently we can't judge certain players by just one game (when it suits us) but have now decided that Delph is shit because of 1 game against us a couple of weeks back.....love the consistency of logic on here!
is this the same Fabian Delph that is so utterly shit that even when he played in a bag of crap side last year, still managed to score more Prem goals than ANY of our central midfielders apart from Charlie Adam last year???? yeah thought so. i guess on that logic we'll be selling Whelan, Ireland and N'Zonzi straight away as they're all utter gash yeah? they must be if the terrible, awful Fabian Delph is outscoring them after all!!!

From what I have seen of him hes a pacey, hard working midfielder who gets about. TBH, I have no issue with him being called up. Colback over Noble however is mind boggling! Dont get me started on the defensive side of the squad. Roll on tonight!
