Can someone explain what they have done to be in the England squad, I rate Delph personally, but the other two have shown nothing over the last twelve months to say to me they deserve a call up, I can imagine some of you will give me highly predictable answers, I read this board a lot. I care about England, give me two players (Shawcross is obviously an obvious one so I have made it two not three) Which of those three would you replace Ryan with? Then who would you replace the other two with? If you agree with my opinion

They're English and are midfielders.
Seriously who else is there?
Not Rose obviously but the same principle at left back goes.....

Livermore has done more than Colback to be in there for me.

He probably has, he'd still be a contentious pick though.

You could put a better argument in there for him over Colback surely I think you could about a similar argument tbh, people were liking him at Sunderland last season. I mean there's been a decent push to get Lee Cattermole in the squad. All four will have people wanting it and people who think they're shit! Same for Westwood, Huddlestone and anyone else of that mid/lower Premier League ilk. I actually don't mind the midfield he's picked Ox, Wilshere and Henderson. Barring the lack of a ball winner, it's ok.

Woy called Rose in recognition of his performance at our place last season, pissing off Stoke fans, something Woy likes! When is the game? Tomorrow?

The problem is that there are so few obvious international standard English players that whoever he picked you'd have people going "what have x, y and z done to deserve a call-up"?

So we want young lads picked from clubs different to the big 6 .....but at the same time we don't ?
FFS I'm confused by this MB

The likes of Rose and colback make the squad due to their not been a massive pool of English midfielders and left backs, delph I say deserves a call up as he is different from the other players I the fact he has pace, but he will not be picked again once Walcott is fit. Roy has a big problem as most of the young talent England have, don't play first team football, and the good English players that do play first team football are not picked because they play for teams not in the top 6 so the media does not jerk of over

Is he playing John Stones as right back or playing 3 centre backs? Either way John Stones is having a dodgy start to the season, Everton's defence has conceded 11 goals already.Ryan must look at that team and feel really pissed off.

Norway have become a very average team, but if you take Sterling and Sturridge out I actually think we could have got something from that game! You will of course be down to only nine then!

Captain, yes. What a role model. Serial shagger of Prozzies and Grannies, hardly done a thing for his country in 5 years apart from moan his bag off when they get booed for being shit and a greedy fucking mercenary and he's been shite for his club this season. I'm so proud.

So he isn't playing any of the new players, despite the fact that this is a meaningless friendly, essentially confirming to them that they're stop gaps who will be out of the squad next time around regardless of how they perform in the interim.

I think it's pretty well established that England doesn't have the talent nor the means of developing talent that other countries have. For me, the solution is to do what the premiership shows is us the most effective means of weaker teams surviving and play an old-fashioned system which every one of the players would have played in growing up. Pulis or Alladice as manager. It wouldn't be pretty, we're still unlikely to win anything but at least the players would look like they were giving their all which certainly isn't the case now.

In terms of midfield players, I can think of some very obvious alternatives from other clubs, all of which are better than Delph and Colback.
To name a few...Noble, Livermore, Huddlestone
You could go almost right through the squad, goalkeepers and forwards excepted and make a case for better players being overlooked than are actually in the squad.
Defenders - Shawcross, Curtis Davies, Dier (got to be worth a look ahead of Chambers as a defender who can play across the back 4) Midfield - Noble, Livermore, Huddlestone, Cattermole Wingers - Dyer, Routledge
There are more than a few players who should be ahead of some of those already in the squad in the pecking order, none more so than our very own Ryan Shawcross.
How Mark Noble and Ryan Shawcross aren't regulars in that squad is beyond me really.

Noble being overlooked is as criminal as the Shawcross thing. Should have been a regular, in the squad at least, for years.
