Can someone provide a short précis of the window as it was for us, save me wading through all the horse shit on here to try and pick out a few golden nuggets So in short Assaidi is in. On a permanent deal, if so what did we pay? And was it on-plan or pushed through seat-of-the-pants in deference to Odemwingie being crook? Any outgoings or is that the lot? Yours etc.

That's it as far as stoke goes.
Loan window to championship opens tomorrow? And we may get rid of some fringe players

Seems like assaidi is a season loan. No other players going out but hope we could off load some players who are just getting a wage for nothing to the championship in a weeks time

Thanks. I had not appreciated it was another loan. I wonder if we would have pushed it through at all were it not for the wingie situation

It is a loan and will, apparently cost us a £1 million loan fee. But, importantly, he will only be paid his £25k per week Liverpool wages which are about half the wages he was demanding on a permanent deal. So, given the Wingie situation, I think we have come out of this ok. Certainly, I'd rather be paying Ossie £25k per week on a loan than, £40k - £50k per week on a long deal. Assaidi just isn't good enough to become one of our highest paid players.
The really good news is that we signed Moses before the Wingie injury. If we had not done then I suspect Chelsea would have driven a much harder bargain as they would have had us over a barrel - and it is Moses who will probably play in Wingie's spot on the right.

Bang on, John - Assaidi will be what he was last season, back-up for Arnie on the left, and Vic will be our regular on the right now. Whatever anyone says about us not spending much money in transfer fees, we've got a far better deal for him than if we'd bought him outright, as you point out. I'd be focusing our efforts on Moses in terms of a permanent deal - looks far more the part on early evidence.

Yes we actually got Assaidi in the perfect position just as a loan for back-up and competition purposes.
Shame about Wingie but we have enough options out wide now to try some different set-ups depending on form and opposition

In Bojan, Diouf, Texiera, Sidwell and Bardsley - plus on loan Moses, Assaidi
Out Kightly, Shotton and Jerome
Other possibly out on loan to the Championship next week
The fact that 5 of those have already featured in some capacity since the end of last season, made yesterday seem extra quiet.
Retaining our key players is just as important - we need to keep them in good health
Only downside is our injury to Odemwinge
A very good window for us
