I'm completely puzzled by it. I thought I had it sussed but now I'm not sure. How can Hull and QPR not have increased there wages by over 4m with the players they've brought in over the summer.

It's a pretty good question. Do teams that come up have special rules for the first few years?
You'd have thought that Hull have signed quite a few on c. £50k/week (i.e. an increase of £2.5million year) - so it would only take a couple of big signings to blow that £4 million budget would it not?

QPR have received 10 mill for remy. But it's the wages that FFP looks at and Ferdinand, Caulker, Sandro, Taarabt, new keeper won't be cheap.

wages have an £8mill increase. the 4mill figure was for last year (and next year it's a 12 mill increase for teams paying over 60mill in wages)

Clubs below a certain figure are allowed to take their wage bill up to that figure (£50+ million - not sure how much). If Hull were below that figure last season then they will be allowed to raise the wage bill to that figure - and in their case the rise might be more than £8 million.

On the face if it, it does look like some teams (Hull, QPR?) will have increased their wages by more than £8 mil wouldn't you think?

They can raise their wage bills by more than the minimum if they can show extra income to cover it. In QPR's case Remy will have probably been a 5 Million Asset on their accounts, so the 5.5 Million profit can be used for wages.

It's only £4m if your wage budget is above £54m already when FFP came into play & if the club makes a profit, the profits can also be used. With Hull they likely weren't at this point already last season as it was their first year back up. QPR I think technically get a free pass as they weren't in the premiership last year for their accounts to count towards the premier leagues.
If I remember rightly, if QPR go back down they are facing heavy sanctions from the football league because their accounts for last season breached the football league FFP guidelines.
