A cynical man would say that the only beneficiaries are agents and Sky Sports.
Time to scrap it and bring back the old system.

I'm all in favour of reverting back to the old system where you could do any business up to about the 21st March. The main reason for this would be to help out the smaller clubs, like Crewe, who used to rely on transfer revenue income coming in on a fairly regular basis throughout the season to survive. I beleve the current system has bought about real hardship and cash flow issues to many clubs in the lower leagues. Having said that, I'd maybe keep windows as well purely for the purpose of buying players from outside of the particular country i.e. you can buy any players from the English Leagues at any time, up to 21st March but anyone from outside is limited to the two windows.

I think that would be fair, yes.

The main people who benefit are the big clubs, all the time. Until something is done to try and change this, they will always be at the top of the league. This is my biggest gripe about football!

2leftfeet, basically what I'm saying. It get's on my nerves. It, to me is just another stitch up! Big clubs rule. End of. All sky can think about is viewing figures. Much as I love watching live footy on the box, it's part of the reason for this big club bias!

Just put a limit on how much clubs can spend, anyone spending over £75m will be banned from signing anyone in the next window.

FFP really favours the big clubs. If Peter Coates decides one day he wants to pump every last penny he owns into this club, a bit like say Jack Walker, it is very unlikely he would be able to do it in a way that genuinely benefited on the pitch Stoke because we would be hit with massive fines and sanctions. I guess the only way he could do it would be to increase ticket prices significantly. It's a shame, but football is all about money now.

I hate FFP, I understand that it was perhaps done with the best of intentions but all it's done really is make everything even more unequal.
The windows though, I can kind of appreciate. It creates a gamble with 25 man squads as well, meaning if you've really dropped a bollock with placing all your hopes on a crap striker or something you can't just go out and get another one, (read title-chasing clubs stripping bare those directly below them actually making a fist at getting a Europa League place). I don't see that this is fair.

Over 800M spent.
Absolutely grotesque. I'm just glad we were only a small percentage of that.

It has it's down sides, but the window offers a certain amount of protection for clubs like us. At least we know our best players are still 100% going to be with us for another four months.
Abolish the window and we are at the mercy of the vultures

Abolish the window and we are at the mercy of the vultures Presumably. if Man Utd suddenly lost RVP or Rooney or Falcao (or all 3, even 2 of them), every Prem club would be at panic stations should their manager get a call from LVG offering stupid/grotesque/bank-breaking amounts of cash? Other 'Top 6' managers similarly afflicted by top player losses would also be circling. So-called 'lower level Prem managers could see their plans/ambitions disappear into the club's bank account as not all club chairmen are club-oriented as PC.
