Stoke cast eye at CarltonDeadline Day can of course be notoriously misleading but word coming out of Stoke this morning is that Hughes could move for Cole in a deal of around £1.5 million.

It wouldn't surprise me if Pulis signed him, even without a club. Tone will keep him cleaning the house/running up hills in Austria until he gets a job in October/November and register him as a free player.

Somehow, if TP was manager, this would be a certainty. Thank god hes not (at the moment...).

I always thought Carlton Cole would do a good job for us in his prime.
He was never as bad as many on here seemed to make out.

I always thought Carlton Cole would do a good job for us in his prime. He was never as bad as many on here seemed to make out. Problem is when he was in his prime we were in the Championship. Not at all. Given a choice at the time between 10m on Crouch and Cole on what would have been a free transfer, I would have taken Cole. More goals and more mobility and that was as late as 2011. That, therefore, means that right up to the Summer of 2011, Carlton Cole, in my opinion, would have been a decent signing for us and would have done us a good job. Give me Carlton Cole over Michael Owen, Eider Gudjohnsen and John Carew any day of the week, even Cameron Jerome.

Interesting debate if it had been Cole in 2011. Cole would possibly have fitted a Pulis team better at that time. I think we're in agreement though that in 2014 COLE NO WAY!

Is this the longest we've been through a transfer window, since promotion, before getting linked to Carlton Cole?
