I would be hugely disappointed if he went to Everton. Don't do this to us Ryan! I would as well. But when you think about it,Everton are a massive club compared to us,and if it's true it's the first time he's had any serious interest from one of the countries big clubs. Hopefully the rumours are just that though. Everton have tried and failed to sign him before as have Tottenham. He didn't agitate for a move then and I doubt he would now. As for 8m, we knocked back 12m enquiry earlier in the summer from the same club.

Why are you having a go at Stoke for being small time over a completely made up rumour by some lemon on Twitter? Because stoke have a history of letting good players go for peanuts. We need to step up and demand a real transfer fee if clubs want our best players, just as other clubs do. Nobody knows if there's any truth in the rumour but if there is we need to demand real money for our captain When did Stoke last let a good player go for peanuts?

Can we quietly give this thread the needle and let it die a quiet, painless death in el Shitbin?
Before we all get worked up over a made-up bit of rubbish?

About as plausible as Chesterfield signing Neymar on loan.

You simply can't hark back to what happened years ago when the club didn't have a pot to piss in to what may happen now if that situation arises.

We let loads of good players go for relatively poor fees. Stein, sheron etc

It may be the cynic in me but I always expect Stoke to accept bullshit offers from other so called bigger clubs. We've had our tummies tickled and sold for shit money in the past and I don't for one minute trust Scholes or Coates offspring

As far as the fee is concerned, then I would hope that in today's inflated market we wouldn't even contemplate an offer under £15 million.

I don't see why anyone is even slightly worried about this rumour...It won't happen in a million years. And if it did it would need to be a hell of a lot more than 8 million!

It might have been decent for the club at the time with the state of our finances but the quality of player they got was a bargain for the fee they paid

Stein, sheron etc I fail to see why what we did in the 90s has any bearing on what we do these days. Peter Coates must have said twenty times that we are not a selling club in the sense that we have no need to sell any of our best players. That doesn't mean we would not sell if the bid was high enough - but that is the key, the bid has to be high enough. The days of Stoke selling good players for poor fees are long gone.

Same rubbish on the transfer thread, didn't believe it there either. Going to be lots more daft rumours until the window shuts, always the same. Simplest way to deal with them is to ignore them all until confirmed by the club concerned.

You don't make a bid for a Premier League club Captain and lynchpin 24 hrs before the window closes and then only bid the bare market minimum price if you're serious. It's clearly bullshit.
Even if it isn't I think it would take a full five minutes of laughing before the words 'errr fuck off' were uttered.

Few mentions on twitter including one stating talksport saying its a goer. Cant see it myself. Fucking hope not anyway. Anyone heard owt? I haven't read the other posts but Everton will need to think long term about their defence because of age. Whether they could afford to make a realistic offer is something else due to their summer spending spree and the Eto deal

@homzy: Apparently there are two clubs interested in signing Ryan Shawcross before the deadline. But it'd take a daft offer for Stoke to sell.
