They were pathetic after a little 10 minute flurry. Everything they 'threw' at us was dealt with ease. It was one of the easiest away victories ive ever witnessed and thats taking nowt away from our lads who were superb to a man. Were u there.?? Obviously you aint been away much..Down to good tactics and great defending. Easy ?? Dont talk shit. No to team has an easy win at the Eithiad ??? ... Portsmouth was easy. Fought , battled , deserved the win. Never easy !! Brilliant result though .. Proud as ever !!! Yes i was there. How many times do i have to say "take nothing away from our lads" "superb" et al? Maybe i didnt word it right. I dont know, but i never once felt uncomfortable when City got into our half.

forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=305241"Deserved to lose. Outplayed to a man today." "They did us. Simple as." "Fair play to Stoke, they had a plan and executed it to perfection. What stings the most about that is one of the worst managers I have ever seen on the sideline at City had just come in and schooled one of the best." "Wish Pullis was there. His Stoke would lose as soon as they would sit in the bus." The day after our promotion I bumped into some City fans who were saying good luck and looked forward to playing us. Funny enough they all had a Manc accent. In general good footie supporters

What comes over loud and clear is that many of them don't rate Joe Hart at all and they appear to absolutely detest Lee Mason. What's also very apparent is that possession doesn't win you football matches (74-26 in favour of Man City). Also surprised at the foul count. Dirty Man City!!!!!Just love it when we get opposition supporters getting really wound up. I think we can congratulate our Charlie for their foul count. He must have 'won' about 10 fouls in the last 10 mins....nearly as many as Aguero did in the 1st half.

Just read this on Bluemoon, and pretty much sums it up for me:
"Stoke were absolutely brilliant today and I've got no complaints. They defended as a team and attacked as a team and played as if they were high on crack from minute one to minute 94.
They came with a game plan and executed it perfectly so credit where credit’s due to Hughes. The bloke I was sat next to kept making mindless comments like 'Oh come on City, its Stoke FFS’ as if we had a god given right for them to just bend over whilst we stiffed them up the crease which just sounded Raggish to me. At one point I asked him what he'd do differently if he were Pellegrini but all he could keep saying was its Stoke FFS. During one of our attacks I counted 9 Stoke players in their area and when they broke from our attack I counted 6 of their players in or around our area. This wasn't a team who just turned up to fulfill the fixture, they came for a result and got it make no mistake about that.
What was strange for me was for the first time this season we looked fit and ready to start the season proper, but we ran into a Stoke team possessed. I spoke to a Rag earlier who was expecting me to make excuses like he was about Burnley saying Stoke only came to defend. I told him straight, Stoke looked us in the eye and took us on and thoroughly deserved their win and I don't think we had an off day either. When we raised the tempo, they matched us and although we were generally better in possession, when they had the ball it was evident that the days of Pulis's Stoke had been consigned to history because Stoke attacked us in an controlled fashion and with pace as if they knew what they were doing.
There wasn't one of our players who played that didn't deserve to be on the pitch and which ever team won today would have deserved it imo. Perhap Hart could have done better for the goal and Kolorov got left dead for pace wben trying to catch Diouf, but Diouf has been tearing it up in Germany recently with a 1 in 2 goal average and is no slouch either. IIRC Ferndinho had already been booked and was the last man, so he couldn't touch Diouf or we'd have been down to 10 men.
The only thing I would have done differently today is I'd have probably brought on Navas earlier because the middle was so congested we needed the ability to change tactics in game. We were also too slow on the break. Time after time I noticed that we seemed to lack the blistering pace to get beyond them on the break and we kept holding up our own play waiting for players to join in which gave Stoke the opportunity to get back into position.
On the left they kept doubling up on Kolorov to ensure he rarely got near the by-line so he had to keep slinging in crosses from long range which was never gonna help with those column like defenders Stoke had. Perhaps an out and out left winger would have been advantageous to us today, who knows, all I say is we played well and were beaten fair and square. We just need to wipe our mouths and move on to the next match and start preparing for other teams using this Stoke template to combat us with."
Fair play, not sure I would be quite so honest had it been Stoke on the wrong end of a result like today's.

To think that they could bring on subs like Navas and Fernandinho, and we come away with the points is mind-blowing!!

Completely agree mate, there movement up front was frightening at times, and they looked a threat every time they went forward. Our defensive performance was just phenomenal from the first minute to the last, against one of the strongest squads in world football.

I'm not trying to detract anything from our win because we,as a team, made it hard for them to play well, but they were nowhere near their best yesterday, which is always what teams like us need when you go there.

Yes, I see where you are coming from. On the ball, technically, Citeh were superb. Their passing (long and short) under pressure was a joy to watch for neutrals I should think, and they probably controlled 99% of the passes they received. But they were not very inventive - with 73% possession you should get more than two shots on target and a load of long range hit and hope stuff. I expected more of Silva and they do seem to lack a Suarez type of player who will run at defenders with the ball. I also thought their defence was starting to look very ponderous especially on the turn. Moses ran riot and with a bit more match sharpness could easily have bagged a goal or assist - or two! And Diouf would be happy to play them every week I think - scored a goal, should have won a penalty and just missed a second goal by an inch or two. They really did not like him running at them.

I agree. When they are on it,they can carve teams open with quick incisive passing through the channels. We never saw any of that yesterday, hence then only getting 2 shots on target all game. I wasn't trying to be negative towards ourselves because we were a major factor in Man City not being at their best, and Hughes got his tactics spot on. I do think that their players thought they could just turn up and win though, and once they realised they couldn't it was too late and they couldn't get into top gear as we were in their faces not allowing them to.

Points above about City's technical brilliance are spot on - I said as we were watching that it seemed they had 13 players on the field at times BUT as stated we had a plan, looked them in the eye and executed ....
A superb result that reminds us all why we do what we do and how good it can be.......

Fair play, I had a lot of respect for city fans anyway (the real ones, not the gloryhunters who signed up circa 2011), supporting their team even though Man Utd were winning anything any everything, whilst they went down to league 1 alongside ourselves, but some of the things they have said (i.e. the majority not calling us a bunch of cloggers and 'achet men) has raised my opinion of them even further. I might not like the way the club itself is run, but the city fans deserve their successes for sticking with their teams through the hard times. Man Citeh have always had tremendous support and I'm going back to the 1970s...along with their neighbours & Scousehampton they always bought the biggest followings to Stoke 10,000 plus at least. I've stood on the Kippax at Maine Rd with 40,000 plus when Stoke played..irrespective of where they were in the league. I've worked with Citeh fans too and they were a decent bunch.

Great bunch citeh fans are The Real ones.
That piece is brilliant.
We fully deserved the points no doubt about it.
The Pulis bit is classic because really was sums the bottler up perfectly.. The game was lost soon as the fixture came out because he had no game plan..yesterday's game plan was exactly that and more so we could actually with this game.
Well done Mark Hughes and Stoke city

Walked back in the rain with a lot of them. Apart from obviously being annoyed they lost they were pretty much all complimentary about us
Had a good chat with another in a coffee shop at the station (I know how to live) and he was again very level headed and thought both were pens, but could see why Ya Ya's was not given
Mind you the lot in our carriage back to Milton Keynes were rather quite
