Stonewall penalty. Bellend. That's what I like to see. Abuse just because a bloke has a different opinion on a what is,after all,a pretty trivial topic. Class.

I think the sensible thing to have done for Diouf would have been to pull the play back for a free kick for the first challenge, which to me seemed more of a foul than the second... But still, not that it matters now, maybe that spurred him on for his sensational goal!

No place for that in a stoke city team. Thoughts? When you go down after your ankles are clipped, you don't dive, your body responds to gravity. It happens a lot it's just that a lot of Premier division refs don't understand psychics, especially when it happens at the 'big' team grounds.
+ 100%
When running at speed and your feet are taken from under you, diving headlong isn't necessary....you just go down. OP - did you not notice that Diouf had scrambled back to his feet after stumbling in the preceding scuffle and was heading toward goal when his ankle was clipped? He is NOT a 'diver' IHMO
Toure, on the other hand.....the 'flop' that he displayed was worth a 9.5-10 at the Olympic Diving Championships
PS - no offence, but I'm sure you mean physics not psychics

From what I have seen of Diouf thus far I don't think he is a diver either. He seems to try and stay on his feet whenever possible which is a good thing. Long may it continue.

STONEWALL PENALTY according to Charlie Nicholas who I don't like, but I'll take the opinion of an ex pro over a 'soccer' fan. Not sure I would. Ex pros are no better at interpreting the game than fans in many instances. Nicholas, the Sky commentator and MOTD commentator all thought it was a pen (as they did the Toure one). Your're entitled to your opinion of course, even if it is wrong.

I think that both were penalties.
If the Diouf one has been awarded and converted - then Man City would have more time to react to going a goal behind
On Radio Stoke the commentators questioned whether we had scored too early when we did make it 1-0
Along with most if not all Stoke fans, I would have been arguing that the Toure foul was also a penalty had he been wearing a Stoke shirt.
Both not been given did even things out and with hindsight possibly improved our chances of securing this great result

The only difference in the penalties was that Diouf waited for the contact before going down and in my opinion Toure saw the contact coming and started going down before it which is the reason his wasn't given.
Any way we won so personally I don't give a fk
Move on and enjoy the result !

I've seen several replays of the incidents and Diouf's was without a shadow of a doubt a penalty in my opinion! The Toure incident is more unclear as I really struggle to decide if Pieters is touching him or not! I know I look at this with Stoke eyes, but to me the Diouf incident is a much clearer penalty than the other one. What annoys me is that the media put a lot of emphasis on the Toure incident, but hardly mention the Diouf incident at all!

In both incidents, penalty or not each player made a meal of it. Consequently I'm with the ref and neither should have been given.

Even the commentators on NBC here in the US said it was a penalty multiple times. Not sure what your on about, definitely got caught. Defo penalty in Thailand too.

Every pundit said we would lose today. It was a penalty though. Well it wasn't given. It's all about opinions, and I don't think it was, and I'm sure people would be all over the 'diving bastard' had it been Sterling, Rose, etc. going over as easily as that.

I really do not think Diouf made a meal of it.
Then again I also think that there was the slightest touch on Toure and nothing any where near enough to put him down.I thought he was starting to fall before the touch anticipating a stronger challenge.

It's a clear stonewall penalty. Diouf is kicked on the ankle, it's enough to go down, a penalty should have been awarded.

Diouf yesterday did all he could all game to stay on his feet
take the goal for example - would have been easy option for him to go down on the halfway line

I hate players diving but I really don't think that Diouf did dive, it was the kick on his ankle and the momentun that put him down, no exaggerated swallow dive here. In slow motion it looked less clear cut, but that is because you cannot judge the speed of the action. No way could Diouf have stayed upright. On the other hand, Toure DID make a meal of it, and whether he was caught or not, gave the ref the option of the yellow card. What is really sad nowadays is that, if players don't go down in a heap they seem to get nothing, encouraging them to be like Ashley Young! Ironically, Young now doesn't get the nod 'cos of his, deserved, reputation. I have always believed that the 'divers' MUST be practising in training, so why not have PL observers at all sessions to put a stop to it!?

To me it looked like what they refer to in Rugby Union as a "tap tackle" His foot was hit just enough for him to go down, but did he make a meal of it? He did exceptionally well to regain the ball and carry on the attack.

Quite soft but a penalty.

Having seen it again on the replays, I don't even think his foot was touched, but without looking at it from another angle we will never know. Either way, correct decision not to award a penalty. Very best case, his boot was tapped, not enough to ever bring you down.
