The first was a foul but he dived in the box. A few need to take off the rose tinted glasses and accept it for what it was. Not taking anything away from him for the brilliant goal but flopping should not be what we do! Sorry mate you are clearly wrong. The defender got a strong contact on the point where foot meets ankle. I suspect the decision on Toure's 'dive' would have been affected by the ref realising he had made a mistake in the 1st half.

No place for that in a stoke city team. Thoughts? He got clipped, not the strongest but still got clipped.

STONEWALL PENALTY according to Charlie Nicholas who I don't like, but I'll take the opinion of an ex pro over a 'soccer' fan.

Not a dive at all - clear contact and what should have been a pen - evened out by Toure who, had he not dived so comically, would have got one for Citeh.....
Are you a bit slow?

Didn't like seeing him go down that easily to be honest, he was on his way long before the contact.
In truth, the foot that played Diouf actually made contact with the ball before touching him, what that means in today's game though is anyone's guess.
No penalty for me, nor was theirs.

Never a dive. Neither was City's. Stoke one no, Man City one yes.

What dive is this, both sides had valid penalties turned down, think someone needs to start watching Tom Daley to show him what a dive is

No place for that in a stoke city team. Thoughts? When you go down after your ankles are clipped, you don't dive, your body responds to gravity. It happens a lot it's just that a lot of Premier division refs don't understand psychics, especially when it happens at the 'big' team grounds.

Toure never a penalty. It was right in front of where i was and no chance. Pieters hardly touched him and pulled his leg away.

I was unfortunate enough to see the game on what I think was Canadian TV. They had two blokes in the studio who didn't appear to have names. The fat one banged on at length about how the foul on Diouf wasn't a foul and how Toure was definitely fouled and it's a foul if a defender takes his foot off the ground in the penalty area (???).

Diouf's Dive, no place for that in Stoke....I presume you are talking about his accommodation, give the lad time, I'm sure his agent or the people at Stoke will find him a nice house to live in soon, maybe Wychwood Park, a few stoke players live there, and he can get out of his dive that he now lives in.

I'll bite: I don't think either were penalties. Just because 'there's contact' doesn't mean it's a foul. It's a contact sport. In both cases it was easier to stay on their feet than go down in my opinion. I agree with the intent of what you are saying. I think the contact on Diouf was greater than on Toure. Both of them could be accused of trying to emphasize the contact but of the two incidents ours was the one with most merit. I don't blame the ref for not giving ours. It would have been an injustice if he had given theirs. Unfortunately, the way the game is played and interpreted these days both of those could have been given. I am of the opinion that a ref must be 100% certain before he decides to give a penalty. I think too many use the balance of probability and thus give too many daft penalties where contact is minimal and the player has not made any attempt to stay on his feet. Sept Blatter et al need to sort this out before adopting fancy gimmicks to solve a problem that only FIFA seemed aware of.
