Another manager off his head, if what I've just read is true. Martinez reckons Lukaku is a snip at 28 million, and would have paid 100 million for him. Off his head if this is anywhere near true, methinks!

In today's market £28mill is indeed a snip.
I'm assuming the £100mill is a bit of exaggeration to emphasise how much faith he has in the lad.

28 million is a good price for a 21 year old who can score 15 goals a season, like he has consistently. However it will be interesting to see how his head changes. He comes across as someone who might lose interest.

The thing is his age. They could get three good years from him and, barring injuries or extraordinary circumstances, sell him at a profit.

"Well to be honest i've been absolutely bum raped by Chelsea for that transfer fee...it's ridiculous cos he's absolute shit and isn't likely to achieve anything. i reckon he'll score 2 goals all season and then piss off abroad for half the price and we'll make a huge loss on the gangly wanker"
Would the OP prefer it if Martinez had said that do you think?
Crackling goalscorer, strong, holds it up well and works extremely well with Naismith and McCarthy. proved he can more than cut it at this level with both West Brom and Everton and virtually every pundit thought Jose was mad for letting him go....he's young, playing for one of the most promising international sides around and can only improve in an ambitious club run by an ambitious manager who takes care of his players well. if Fellaini was worth £28 mill then the same amount for Lukaku is probably the bargain buy of the season!

I don't think he's worth 28 mil never mind 100. Good player, I agree, but IMHO, not worth that much. Whether or not Martinez is trying to boost his ego or not, he's never worth 100 mil. Total claptrap! Oh! and when you quote Fellaini, you are talking Manure.

I must admit Mick, I do jump to conclusions. Sometimes I should count to ten. Stupid statement all the same. These figures fly out of football peoples mouths as though they are within the reach of everyday folk. That's what I find most annoying. Still don't think he's worth 28 mil, by the way!
