So, a difficult first game of the season. Not quite gelling, and the new boys some way off the pace ( except Bardsley)
But, part of our strength, has always been our never say die support.
First game of the season, and we are one (only one ffs!) goal down, and we all know how the final minutes of a game can completely change the result. A couple of seconds at the end of last season would have made Charlie Adams a living legend!
8 minutes to go of normal time, and 13 mins in reality, and what happens?
Mass exodus from the Brittania, mostly in people wearing brand new away shirts!
Fair play to the, mostly red and white Boothen, they stuck around.
Shame on you 30% of the others.
This is not what Stoke City is about .
If you've paid your money the best you can do is give those eleven guys every bit of help you can. They really needed it today........

If you've paid your money, then you can leave when you like. If you haven't paid your money, then you can't get in.
People leaving early doesn't make them "disgraceful gloryhunters" Nor does the fact they may or may not be wearing our new away shirt.
In the late 80's and through the 90's people left early from games, in fact supporters leave early for various reasons at every level of football. From Flamingo Sky FC right up to Manchester City.
As long as they don't stand in the way so i can't see the game then i don't give a shit. This is the usual can of worms that gets opened after a bad game, god knows the football season's started.

Byron does have a point Hancock.
Loads WERE leaving. Yes, 3-0 down maybe, but not 1-0.
Just when we needed the bear pit, we got the can't be arsed pit.

People have left early every game, every season whether we're winning, drawing or losing, for at least the last 40 years since I've been a supporter. Why are they now gloryhunters?

mmmm, tape measure out....ive been following Stoke since 1969, not going into detail the matches ive been, but I an Stoke through and through, and been a season ticket holder since 2007-08 (could not afford before), but I leave early sometimes, in the last Pulis season I left at half time v West Ham because the football was dire, but I'm not a disgraceful gloryhunter, and many of the supporters who left today early...its their business, does not mean they are disgraceful gloryhuners

You really are a GRADE A fucking PENIS!!!People have paid their money to come and go whenever they want,as mentioned above.I decided to leave on about 88 minutes because I was bored shitless and had seen enough for one day, which I never normally do.YES i was in the boothen and wearing the new away top aswell but after supporting scfc for 37 years I would hardly call myself a glory hunter.Oh,and by the way,YES i will be at hull next Sunday.

I take it back. "Disgraceful" possibly a bit strong.
I get that some people need to leave for many reasons, and as a paying customer you have a choice.
It was just noticeable in the south stand that a lot of people in new away shirts left when there was still a lot to play for.
Maybe they were tourists, and had a bus to catch....
Up the Potters!

I couldn't believe it. If we were 3-0 down fair enough but we were one down. And it's not like there was 2 minutes left. They started trickling out with about 10 minutes remaining. Personal view is that I don't like to see fans walking out of the game when the team needs there support. However, if they wish to do it, then so be it.

People seem to find it strange that not everyone shares the same level of commitment about Stoke, or maybe has a life beyond Stoke. It's a very blinkered view.

We have no divine right to win any game in this league, even Man Utd lost today at home to swansea. Just when you thought David Maoyes had broken all Man Utd's records Van Gaal is the first to lose an opening day fixture for them at the theatre of shite.
Shit Happens, there is 37 games to improve on today

.....nah -- the disgraceful glory-hunters would be those several thousand who have been nowhere near the Brit since the FA cup final !!
Those leaving early today were doing so either cos they always do OR they were bitterly disappointed to be turned over by a very ordinary Villa side in a game we all expected to win in some style - I left on 90 to go to the bog in the vain hope that I have missed many a Stoke goal when pointing Percy at the porcelain (stainless steel I know!!) - didn't work this time tho.....
Gutted but if honest not that surprised - plenty of good learning points today for players and manager and probably supporters alike.....

I couldn't believe it. If we were 3-0 down fair enough but we were one down. This is my point. Not that people left early, but that they left 13 mins before the end of a game (the first game of the season) that still had something in it. As it transpired not much, but "it's a funny old game" ..........

I stayed til the end but I've no problem with people leaving whenever they want. They've paid there money they can go after 5 minutes for all I care. For what it's worth we could have carried on playing til Tuesday and we still wouldn't have scored today.

Disappointing that the extra 5 minutes at the end was spent in our half with us kicking it in to touch.

Really disappointed with the result, but with a bit of tweaking, we are not far off a team to be reckoned with. Let us not forget, it takes time for a team with new players to gel. Onwards and upwards methinks!

I was more disappointed with the fact that most of us disappeared after the goal. Noise wise at least, the atmosphere was dire.

I must admit, that I got up and left the TV at the 80 minute mark to go and make a cup of tea. For that I am truly repentant and ask for your forgiveness. I did return however with the said cuppa. As for why I wasn't at the ground, I live in Oz but will try and make up for it by setting out on my bike tomorrow for Hull.

These are the fans that would come down Vale Park if we were to swap places. If Vale somehow made it into the Premier League, you'd be able to turn up at 14.50 and pick your seat.
