Against a villa team that had a game plan and took advantage.
We were always going to lose 10--15 games a season add to that the expectation that we will win all the time.
A good kick up the arse that may be was needed. And a bit of a reality check
Regroup and onto hull

Well said.
No big deal losing today, new players always takes a few games to know each others games.

Villa worked their bollocks off, really put everything into breaking us down. They earned their victory today.
We didn't match their work rate, there is no excuse for that really, but the performance and work rate of another team will always affect that of the opposition.
To many off days all in all, Arnie, Bardsley, Wilson soft at the back for their goal. Bojan, well he couldn't get into the game this week, but we need to stick with him a little, Ireland couldn't make it tick either - I still beleive good things will happen this season.

Villa were fantastic. As bad as we were, anything we did try the dealt with, very comfortably. Too comfortably.
Vlaar was great. Senderos and Hutton both very good as well.
I think we'll learn a lot from today. Definitely require more pace in the side.

Twice in three seasons Lambert has done a number on us. Last time it was playing 3 front men and taking the game to us, today they pressed us everywhere and were dangerous on the break.

Well said. Villa were great today and restricted us in our attacking play.

A bit of a reality check indeed.
We looked pedestrian at times. .lacked a cutting edge upfront...trying to pass the ball for the sake of passing..far too casual..and our new signings were less than impressive.
Villa had more of a cutting edge but weren't that brilliant but they could have been 3 up at half time due to some very casual defending.
Ever likely Crouchy got a standing ovation at the end when he applauded the Boothen...he was the only one 'up for it' after he was brought on.
Apart from that....;-)
Let's move on..we have the makings of a very good team.

Villa defended well and looked dangerous on the counter, I wouldn't go as far to say they were fantastic though. We were lively for the first 20 mins but too many of our players had off days, a bit more composure in the final third and it could have been so different, no need for massive changes yet but I'd bring Odemwingie in if he's fit.

We were very poor today but I'm not having that they were good, if they were any good we'd have lost by a lot more that 1-0. Not many positives today unfortunately, but the biggest thing for me was the massive lack of any pace and urgency. Need Odem and Moses for next week and I'll fancy us for a win. Also, Bardsley is woefull, we need Geoff back ASAP.
This is a reality check for everyone hopefully

Diouf was totally isolated and needed support that is more than just an off day, I would say. The game plan or the carrying out of the game plan by the selected players would have to be single biggest reason for this fact. No doubt Hughes noticed this and will make the appropriate changes as he sees necessary. He did a good job on that front last season.

One game and everybody is ready to slit wrists. Fuck me how embarrassing. And when we beat Hull everyone will be doing cartwheels & somersaults & saying how brilliant we are. :-(
