Did you ever see my skateboard scar TB? Took my left elbow down to the bone in 1977. Been bashing my body around ever since...
Jay Adams was a personal friend of a lad who I used to race motocrossers with (one of the three Easom brothers) in Shrewsbury back in the day.
Very sad.

I didn't know that **************. Have you seen the movie Dogtown & the Z Boys? It's film by stacy peralta that documents the history of the Zephyr team and the birth of bowl riding.

I don't think so, in fact i'm pretty certain it's a no, but i'll watch it. What year was it made? When I was hanging around with the MotoX gang we used to watch "Crusty Demons of Dirt" videos almost continuously. They were great back in the day. I did get to spend a few days with Tony Hawk though. I followed him round for 3 days with my camera when he was performing at the F1 circuit in Abu Dhabi in 2010. We couldn't get him out of the bloody pub to perform, he was pretty much half cut all weekend....
Good bloke though and he was still unbelievably smooth on the half-pipe, which was itself an amazing contraption using dozens of car jacks. An absolute work of art that thing, as delicate as a swiss watch, tight as a drum and beautifully sprung. Had to be seen to be believed.

Dogtown & the Z boys was 2001 and is a brilliant document of skateboardings transition from fadism to subcultural phenomenon. Tony Hawk has a few talking head sections but this is essentially the precursor to his time - the Bob Dylan to his Beck. Not to be confused with the Lords of Dogtown (2005) which was a half decent dramatisation of the same era starring Heath Ledger.
