We're Stoke City we normally fuck something up, does anyone else think it's all going too well at the moment? I'm waiting for two players to get injured during Saturdays warm up or something

Enjoy the ride even if it is bumpy, we have an excellent squad, well managed. Just look at what is happening elsewhere and be delighted it isn't us.

I'm still waiting for the roof to fall off the seddon stand. Ahh but there's the difference, Huth would catch it and just put it back on.

Enjoy good times while they are here and don't worry about the future. There's many a comedian lost his marbles worrying that tomorrow he might not be funny any longer and will be out of a job.
PC is a very shrewd owner/chairman who will have contingency plans in place for any eventuality.

Stoke City FC is a different beast now. There is no way that this group if players and management team are going to disappoint this season.

I try to reassure myself by thinking it's a win win situation. We either get off to a good start and everything's great or we don't start well and having spent nowt on transfer fees I'd expect us to go boom, and speed up our need and search for what we may require to complete what we're trying to be.
working for me anyway.

I feel the same occasionally.
That's why we should all stick our nose's in the air and suck in the clean, fresh air of the Premiership. It can all change very quickly, just ask M'borough, Leeds, Sheff Weds and Villa (next year).
Out of the above I always liken ourselves to Boro. I doubt they thought they would ever be relegated having the likes of Ravinelli, Juninhio, Southgate, Hasselbank etc playing for them.
We should live in the moment and come what may!! Long live Peter Coates!!

Can't say I don't feel the same, In quite a few of the pre season games we looked as toothless as pre season last year. Not very cutting at all.
I worry we like effort/grit with arnie and Ireland. And we lack attacking impetuous/quality with Whelan.
Not to mention where bojan will play and how he could crumble under the pressure and physicality of it.
He needs to be on song, and a team built around him. He's said he's not happy out wide and I can't see him playing the Ireland role. He has always looked far better though the middle too.
Diouf has only scored one goal in pre season and looked hit and miss. He's a tryer but seemed to drop to deep. He's another that seems to lack confidence.
If we lose one of the midfield two cover is sparse. Cameron? Palacios? Adam? Wilson?
What if Adam doesn't get those goals? Or we don't have "a better second half to the season?"
Or if or home form dips and the rot sets in? Or bego gets injured?
Expectations have got way ahead of themselves this off season. Top 10 will be another massive achievement if we can do it.
Or it could all just go swimming and we are one of 8 pushing for top 4.......
And Ryan gets and england call up

Don't worry lads, a nice 3-1 defeat at Villa this weekend will calm everyone down. That said, I'm actually quite confident. I genuinely believe... we might win

Just enjoy it as it happens

I'm extremely disconcerted by how optimistic I feel. Normally I'm firmly in the "40 points" camp but right now I feel should be aiming to finish 8th. EIGHTH FFS. I've had a bet with a mate that we beat Villa by at least 3 goals on Saturday.
It's not right. It's a recipe for disappointment.

What a complete load of bollocks, and I can't believe some of you agreeing with the original poster. We have a great club, from the Board, right down to us the fans, we are going places believe you me. Is your glass half full or half empty, well let me tell you now, mine has a very nice meniscus of surface tension thank you very much. COME ON STOKE... Can't fuckin wait for tomorrow....

Enjoy them I say. I think the key thing is that in addition to the positive changes wer'e making we aren't saddled with a load of debt, have top-class training facilities and in general are on relatively steady ground (as much as any football club can be).
