Got my one second hand from the Chef at the Berni Inn in Newcastle in about 1986 - think I paid about £20 for it back then. What you can get for <£10 from places like Sports Direct is amazing now! Gray -Nichols have brought the scoop back and also the Power spot ....you're talking of upwards of £200 for one of those Bloomin' 'ell. £200 for a bat! Why would I pay that when I only use the edges most of the time!

Daubenton's Bat That was me initial thought, but the description of 'agile' flight didn't ring true with what I saw. But I've looked into it a bit further since you posted and came across better pictures and descriptions, and this. There's still a scintilla of doubt in my mind because this creature emerged well before nightfall. But by jove I think you got it. Thanks. *I'll leave the rest of you dullards to carry on with your Cricket and Nora nonsense.

Why would I pay that when I only use the edges most of the time! Indeed ! And on these new bats an outside edge is like the middle of the old ones .....don't know they are born this newer generation .....I had those green rubber spikes on my batting gloves as well !

Remember going to Kenya, many moons ago. Stayed at a hotel called The Southern Palms, which had a massive free form swimming pool. On one particular day, me and the missus were lying underneath one of those parasol things made like a thatched roof. At the end of the afternoon, I happened to look into the thatched roof, and it was full of sleeping bats. I then told the missus. I've never seen her move so quick, looked around and she was no where to be seen! She's not very quick at the best of times. Always makes me laugh, thinking about it!

I had a bat flying round the bedroom not long ago ....frightened the living bejeebers out of me ....I opened the window and shut the door ...then went out , A few weeks later I was going to the loo in the middle of the night and as I was going back to bed there was a bat flying round the lounge .....I shut the door and went back to bed ...when I woke up it had gone ..
