Personally I don't mind paying for the product if it's of good quality ....Harry Ramsden's used to be excellent if not a little expensive for a smallish portion, now they are as bad as anywhere else , their quality has diminished while their prices remain high . the original ramsdens was top notch so im told all the rest of the chain in just junk food . i had great fish and chips the last time i was in blackpool about 15 years ago not far from the hilton adout 30 yards off the front The original in Guisley was still good when we last called in about three years ago .....Blackpool used to be good as I said but it's now poor . I know that shop you are referring to Harry , it's the Derby Fish Bar on Dickson Road .....they were good years ago , can't say that I've been in there for about 20 years though .

Love a warmed pot, leaves, strainer and proper cups. Start with a good measure of milk in the cup and add from the pot as I slurp, ending with it strong and nearly black. If I'm just having a mug I leave the teabag in, it replicates the changing strengths.
As for fips and chish, they always taste better at the seaside. Maybe the salt in the air. You always seem to get a carrier bag full of chips and a scrawny fish {for about £7} at the moment. Yorkshire Fisheries in Cobridge used to serve delicious and massive fish. Disappointing the last time I went. It's the Chippylicious £2.70 bargain box for me.. small Fish & chips and a choice of mushy peas, gravy or curry {it also comes with a pointless sausage that gets given to the nearest dog.} Just enough.
Whatever happened to batter bits? Batter bits, chips and gravy was a lunchtime staple when I boycotted school dinners.

Yes the bits were the best part of fish and chips ......the reason they seem to have disappeared is because the chip shop owners sell them to made into pig food .....if you ask sometimes the fryer will sprinkle a bit of batter into the fat for you ....depends how busy they are

The Spanish do condensed milk in espresso & call it cortado leche leche & it's the perfect balance of bitter/sweet. I believe they do something similar in Cambodia

Sit uncomfortably on the floor for 10 minutes to get a thimble of tea. And they don't even put milk in it

Yorkshire tea, brewed in a warmed teapot for between 3-5 minutes. Milk first.
Excellent with a bacon butty as well as fish and chips. Lots of decent fish and chips over here on the east coast. Fresh caught Grimsby fish is superb. It was always the one advantage of being in the same division as Grimsby back in the 90s - the guarantee of a decent fish & chips before the game.

Sorry to go off topic, but there's been a lot of fish and chip talk on this thread, and feel the need to mention my second favourite drink to go with them; Dandelion and Burdock. That is all.
