Ive heard people say Bojan might find it difficult in the PL being small...... what load of rubbish, most of the best ever have been small? It's complete bollocks. All these supposed experts say this every time a good player comes over. They said the same about Modric and a year later they were saying he's the best central midfielder in the Prem and he was linked with Real Madrid. Just rubbish.

Ive heard people say Bojan might find it difficult in the PL being small...... what load of rubbish, most of the best ever have been small? I wouldn't say most of the best ever have been small. Some of the best ever have been huge. John Charles and Duncan Edwards from my youth were big powerful men and both remarkably mobile for their size. I do think it is dangerous to generalise. A big player should be able to "look after himself but a smaller player will possibly be more mobile and, if he is an attacker, will probably be at an advantage if he can "turn" a big defender. One thing that is true, is that these days, smaller players get much more protection from referees than they did when I was a boy.

He'll need to man up, no doubt, but it didn't stop Zola and Owen from running rings around the big boys...

Yes but my impression is in the UK, coaches always plump for physical size, regardless of ability. My 9 yr lad, at 4ft 3", is lucky he has a coach who sees him for ability. Most coaches didn't even look at him. He's just been named north staffs junior league player of the year.

They said it about Gianfranco Zola who remains one of the best players to ever play in 'the best league in the world'.
They also said Cristiano Ronaldo was too lightweight and he had silly string for hair (one of these things was true).

Luca Modric Nathan Dyer Santi Cazorla Aaron Lennon Leon Britton Vurnon Anita Emanuele Giaccherini
AND plenty of other proven premier league players. It's all a myth.

I feel obliged to mention former SCFC legend & slayer of Hull City Cliff Carr at this point.
