Nah. If you think back to last season, Odemwingie had become the main man up top and we looked a better team for it, Crouch had fallen behind him in the pecking order and since then we've signed Diouf and Bojan. There'd be absolutely no justification at all in extending his contract now, especially when you have to take FFP into account. This. Until we suffer injuries or suspensions Crouch will struggle to make the bench this season. Under those circumstances I rather think he'd be an expensive luxury. The best solution for both the club and the player would be for him to be sold by the end of the transfer window and, possibly, for us to replace him with a younger prospect who would also be on a lower salary.

I can't imagine, at this stage of his career that Peter would want to be keeping a bench warm. He is not my favourite player I have to admit, but he has done a good job for us, and I also think he is good to have in the dressing room. I honestly believe he will go South before the window closes. With Diouf, Wingie and Bojan potentially ahead of him I can't see him staying.

TimesWest Ham have held contract talks with Samuel Eto’o, the former Chelsea striker, this week and are also considering a move for Hugo Almeida, the Besiktas forward.
The east London club are looking to fill the gap left by Andy Carroll, who has been ruled out for four months with an ankle injury.
West Ham have also inquired about the availability of Peter Crouch, the former England centre forward. Stoke City have asked for £1 million for Crouch in a deal that would remove his basic salary of £45,000 a week from the wage billCan't see the rest of the story due to their pesky paywall Just talks about his goal record (8 in 30 PL appearances) and that he is of interest also to Palace.

Crouch is a good player, but now I think he'll just be a part time player for Stoke. He is our top earner I've understood so letting him go now would probably be the best thing to do. I'd rather keep Walters because of his versatility and we also have Odemwingie, Bojan and Arnie who could play up front. I see Diouf as our first choice striker.

i like walters he works hard and hes a great option off the bench - however odem, adam sidwell and ireland depending on who starts are also great options off the bench
crouch gives us somthing different, if we could extend his deal onreasonable wages he could end his career here

He is also of interest to Crystal Palace. Carl Jenkinson, the Arsenal right back, is close to a loan move to Upton Park, so Guy Demel may depart West Ham."

Hes a nice guy but since his teeth getting knocked out hes been a different player. He held us back last season with all the rest of the pace in the team and he just couldnt keep up. It was a bit painful to see.
Crouch is fine to have if you focus on set pieces and knock-downs.
Im guessing with the signing of Bojan that Hughesy is not trying to play this too much

Keep Crouch, sell Walters. Crouch offers far more than Jon, we don't need a 'striker' who runs around like a dog chasing a balloon, and finishes like one too.

I like Pete and he's a good player but I'm bored of watching him play. Everything is in slow motion. I didn't want him to begin with for that reason alone.

:-SSo much rubbish on one little thread - Crouch still remains far better an option up front than half those fucking losers who went out to Brasil recently And, we have lummocks on here that see him as an expensive luxury and want him gone ???? Ill refrain from saying what I normally do and, in an attempt to be fair and measured say:- what absolute fucking bollocks some people spout on here

(I'm guessing that's who you meant by losers)

Under what circumstances would his inclusion in the side be more advantageous than any of Diouf, Odemwingie, Bojan or indeed even Walters (assuming that Walters might come on as a late sub for his defensive play in order to hold on to a lead)?

Because out of the two he offers far more to the team I disagree, i think with Walters being able to play more than one position he already offers more, that's not to say we shouldn't be moving on from both but if it was a choice between losing one or the other I think I'd rather lose Crouch and his wages.

People have to stop fucking living in the past. The Stoke City of 2014 is not the same as the Stoke City of 2013. We are a totally different team. I know some people want to bring Greenhoff back, but, hey, time to move on (and up).

Crouch offers something different.Unfortunately it doesn't fit in to our style of play,in fact he's more of a hindrance than an asset these days. Cracking player that he was....and still could be for someone, just not us any more

and he was our top scorer... That's not saying a lot. but it's saying he actually finished more than any of our other players, and he never took any penalties. If Diouf got 10 goals this season I'd be very happy, but there's no guarantee. I think crouch is a good finisher, it's the pace that would be why he is no longer needed.

Lots of quick pacey players coming into the team - so that of course, rules out having a tall lean lanky striker with excellent ball playing skills in and around the penalty area, as well ????
Still Needed As much as his undoubted aerial threat and contribution at both ends of the pitch - naaah he can go ??????????????????????????????????????
The fact that he is quite plainly still , one of the better 'football players' we are lucky enough to have in our squad - perhaps in the entire league - somehow seems to escape some people on here
to be frank
to be so blind to what he offers our - fully acknowledging - he never was, the fastest in the world
baffles me totally .
Furthermore, to imagine how many goals he could score in a team making lots more chances - and never see that realised for perhaps another season plain daft - no other words
I reckon given the chance - he can and will - 'fill his boots' next season - goal wise
and his 'so called' replacement - as yet unknown and unproven in the premier league. If anything he flopped last time he tried - at a bigger club too
So its obvious - get rid of the England class striker we still possess - no backup required - no alternative - even off the bench
- all I can say is to finish is:-
Of course, given all the above reasoning, I can bow to the 'fucking experts' on here
I just Thank fuck - some of you don't run our team
