Don't know what people think of this for a idea but I think it would be a good deal for both parties if we offered Peter Crouch another year to his contract but this time on our terms to change his current contract to 2 years. Here's my thinking on this. Firstly I feel he has at least 2 years left in him at premiereship level. Secondly if we sold him for 1-2 million could we get as good replacement for that sort of money as good a player ?( I personally very much doubt it) . So as I say it could be a financial benefit for both parties. I thought last season he put in a lot of hard work for the team and maybe should of had more goals but given the chance this season I feel he will score more goals with this squad mark Hughes is assembling . Exciting times ahead and why not have peter crouch part of these times.

Crouch covers a lot of ground during a game even though he isn't the quickest of players. It would be reasonable to assume two more years in the Premiere League at most. It would be useful to retain him at Stoke during that period. I am sure that Diouf will come good but having Crouch just in case makes sense for this season at least. Whether his wages could be adjusted for the second season may be a stumbling block.

I believe Crouch will just see out his contract bro, the way that MH is building his team along with his style of play, Crouch will be fazed out. That's just the way i see it. But understand and agree with your thinking.

If he's happy I'd keep him for one more year if possible he adds something different to our attacking options

His wage is the issue. It could be invested better elsewhere. His contribution doesn't warrant being our highest earner. If he accepted another year on half the wage I'd consider it.

Crouchie has proved to be worth every last penny - we should extend his contract so that he retires a Stokie and will always be remembered as a Stokie - as well as crucial goals and being a great player he's made a massive contribution off the field in putting the club on the map - everyone knows and loves Crouchie and I don't want to see him go anywhere other than a natural retirement in a few seasons time......

He is England's best ever striker. He's probably England's tallest. He has been a top professional footballer and has lifted the image of the club higher than anyone else has done , but like all good things they must come to an end. I've watched him this season and I have to say that he's not the player he once was....at best id give him 12 months , but if a good offer came in then I'd sell him. As for Walters....he just needs getting rid of. I can't see him ever playing another game.

Nah.
If you think back to last season, Odemwingie had become the main man up top and we looked a better team for it, Crouch had fallen behind him in the pecking order and since then we've signed Diouf and Bojan.
There'd be absolutely no justification at all in extending his contract now, especially when you have to take FFP into account.

Don't most players over the age of 33 have automatically renewed 1 year contracts? E.g. 20 appearances and their contract is renewed? We had the same with Woodgate and hmmm, played him for 19 lol!!

Crouchie could be an important player in a plan B if games don't turn out as we hoped!

Crouchie is in a great place right now. He's happy at Stoke and says he's looking forward to playing a part in Stoke's progress this season ( I believe him). He's getting very well paid and he knows that, at the end of his contract, he is free to move to anyone who wants him and he'll not be short of offers. I think he'll be happy in the knowledge that he will have plenty of options at this time next year. I honestly think he wants to be here this season and I'm more than happy to have him as an option but he will be well aware that he could yet be playing elsewhere come the end of August. Like I said, he's in a great place right now.

Despite the fact that Diouf, Bojan,Odemwingie, or even Arnie could play the striker role instead of him, i would still hate to see him go. Another year or so as a Sub would be a-ok with me.

Still the best player i've seen in a Stoke shirt since our return to the Prem. Takes far too much shit in my opinion. He's world class.

TimesWest Ham have held contract talks with Samuel Eto’o, the former Chelsea striker, this week and are also considering a move for Hugo Almeida, the Besiktas forward.
The east London club are looking to fill the gap left by Andy Carroll, who has been ruled out for four months with an ankle injury.
West Ham have also inquired about the availability of Peter Crouch, the former England centre forward. Stoke City have asked for £1 million for Crouch in a deal that would remove his basic salary of £45,000 a week from the wage billCan't see the rest of the story due to their pesky paywall

There is no role for him any longer. He's a tortoise. He might fit someone else's style, but we've moved way past him. It was glaringly obvious against Schalke when he came on.

I think Crouch is the ideal man to film the match from the back of the Boothen and give a Crowds perspective of the game ... No one will get in his line of sight will they =)
