Ah I see that they're still sponsored by Wonga, so the initial fee for Rivière will be £4 million, rising to £85 million after interest.

Their French team didn't do too well last season. Pardew seems obsessed with French players. But 2 years there and he will move on like all the rest.

Never gets old Wonga is utterly morally bankrupt, they're genuinely vile. Praying on those who are truly desperate And Bet365 constantly turn away punters who are in debt. Fair point BUT with bet 365 there's a (small) chance you might end up with more money than you put in. With wonga this is never the case, never understand people who are short sighted or stupid enough to use wonga or any other company of the like, they never improve anyone's finances and just pray on the desperate. Ps not that fussed on losing out on rivere

NZonzi is enough trouble by himself without another fickle frenchie in the side.
Newcastle have 9 of them, that's a massive risk.

Don't really think anyone said we were going to sign him apart from Hackett and if you believed him then you're a fool.

He is a solid player but I am not going to lose any sleep about it. This really. The guy is a decent player but I think when he was linked with us, people were seeing him as some kind of silver bullet. He scored a modest 10 goals in the French league last year, which isn't exactly a brilliant league is it? That's his best season goal scoring wise. That doesn't make him a bad player as we all know that service etc can impact, but I'm not convinced he's as special as some people were making out.

We've already got Diouf to play the lone striker role. It would have been pointless signing Riviere to play him out wide.

How is this possible when Hackett told us he's signed for us? Is this allowed?? Where's Hackett to clear this up

Looks like he's off the mark for Newcastle v Sydney FC:
GOAL! Newcastle continue to press after the initial save from Gouffran's header, and it's the Frenchman who crosses for Riviere, who's excellent movement allows him to tap home for his first goal in Newcastle colours.

just got back from that game and expected more from him against very mediocre opposition with at best a static schoolboy defence . However it is early days yet so we will have to wait and see how he fares and adapts against real players.

If your bet with 365 goes down, you're not asked to pay interest on it.People who go to Wonga are obviously struggling financially, that's why they've gone to Wonga. Millionaires go to bookies.Who's to know who can't afford to gamble?

Ps not that fussed on losing out on rivere I had a complete punt using Bet365 and won around £80. As I'm not in the habit of gambling, and unlikely to do it again, does that make me a drain on Stoke City's resources like Tongue/Soares etc?

I've got him in my projected fantasy football team.
I think he'll bang the goals in for the Geordies next year.
