A truck load of Crickets were been taken to a New York zoo, when the truck ran over a Baseball bat, flattening it,hence the USA invented Cricket.

invented by the americans apparently Not a chance mate Cricket was being played in England before America was even thought of I was watching QI the other night & it reckoned that the oldest international sporting fixture was America v Canada at cricket. Surely that can't be true?

Not a chance mate Cricket was being played in England before America was even thought of I was watching QI the other night & it reckoned that the oldest international sporting fixture was America v Canada at cricket. Surely that can't be true? Well during the 1800's Cricket was pretty popular in both because of the British influence. In America it was being played quite a lot prior to the Civil War in fact it was pretty much the most popular sport being played , that particular game was a game between two clubs , not a true America v Canada game .....but you could. I suppose call it an international. Of sorts

I made a very brief mention of the history of cricket in a short article I wrote for something back in the 1980s - I'd looked it up at the time and am sure it had been 'invented' in England sometime in the 1700s - but YOU LOT all already know that REALLY, don't you???!!!

It's almost certain that cricket as we know it was played in South East England in the early part of the 18th Century and the fist Organised Cricket Club was Hambledon in Hampshire ....where the first organised games were played on the Common
