SL&P are reporting that we're releasing Charlie Ward. I thought he'd looked decent when I'd seen him play and he's knocked on the door of the first team. Surprising one unless he's looking to get a contract elsewhere and Stoke were happy to let him go?

Been overtaken by Parry and Shenton really, it's not a surprise.
I can see him getting a Conference club, hope he gets higher though.

What's going on with Skapetis? He seems to be always injured

It's because he got a bad knee (I think) injury and is out for the season (that bits a definite, whatever injury it was).

Was there not a massive congregation of people wanting Alabi given a chance in first team last season, seems to have died down now, how is his development going?

Skapetis was a knee cruciate, Bayern's right and he'll be out until the start of next season. Alabi looks like he stagnated and was on trial in Holland a couple months back, reckon he'll be released in summer.
Strong has gone I'm fairly sure of that, saw it on Twitter.

He's actually featured 12 times for their first team by the looks of it as well in the C'ship- although with their squad constraints, maybe it was between him and the tea lady?
It'll be interesting to see how many more 18/19-year-olds we bring in to the U-21 set-up.

They have their two years in obscurity then disappear to non-league/League 2 Suppose you're always battling the odds in the hope of uncovering one gem. It'll be interesting to see if any of this lot survive the cull? Lecygne maybe? (in addition to Bachmann) And Skapetis presumably has another year to get fit and show something? Maybe even Waring will be sold in the summer?

Of that list I think Bachmann, Eve (he signed a new 2 yr deal recently didn't he), O'Reilly (played last night maybe an indiction) ditto Taylor, Barber (a year in to a 2 yr deal), Lecygne, Skapetis and Waring will stay.

With Moha and Telford (and the even younger Verlinden) on the way, the much needed revamp of the under-21s begins. We must have one or two each year who can break into the first team squad, or else the investment in the Academy is simply not justifiable.

So I think the squad for the U-21's next season will be this so far;
No Bachmann, I'm sure I've seen Dave Wright say in interviews he's already in the first team squad.
GK-Dale Eve (probably sent out on loan) GK-Dominic Kurasik GK-Daniel Gyollai
RB-Johnville Renee-Pringle
CB-Lewis Banks CB-Liam Edwards CB-Ryan O'Reilly (probably)
LB-Ben Barber
RW-Yusuf Coban (presuming he signs a contract)
DM-Eddy Lecygne CM-Olly Roberts AMC-Olly Shenton
LW-Moha LW Joel Taylor (probably)
ST- George Waring (loaned out again I'd suspect) ST-Peter Skapetis
So it's the bare bones of a squad, O'Reilly and Taylor seemed to have survived the cull so far.
Alex Grant seems to be doing well at Macc, may he stay? I don't think he will but I have no idea.

I can imagine we will bring a few young ones into the squad in the summer and maybe have a few cross over players from the U18s playing a couple, like N'Goy. The lad from Blackpool and the Belgian lad possibly in the squad too

The Belgian will be for the U-18's for now. N'Goy will flit between two I'd have thought, ditto Jarvis and a few others. 6-10 new players will be added to that lot above I reckon.

That Yao kid looks like he's 40. Could be a bad picture on the official of him but he reminds me of that 'kid' from Lazio

Is that as impressive at it seems? I'd say so yes. I think barring Banks it's a 1st year side and they put out a team with more experience than us. Obviously their academy has a reputation but they're in the third tier with us for a reason! Saying that so are Arsenal, Fulham and Norwich who's academies too have excellent reputations!
