Ward, Wheeler and Bachmann have already experienced matchday squads and in Ward's case the bench of a Premier League game. Bachmann has got a decent loan providing he'll play and can only benefit from that. Alabi probably has his last chance to show Stoke that he's potentially good enough to transfer his excellent record at a youth level to the professional game. Sam Coulson will be looking to get fit and regain his place in the England youth set up that had gained before he got a long term injury. And we have new signings Adeloye who has been in fine goalscoring for since joining us on trial last season, Skapetis who was rated at QPR and Ben Barber who has joined us from Man Yoo. It will also be interesting to see if 16 year old Ollie Shenton will become a fixture of this team too. We'll be in division 2 of the U-21 league with the top 2 getting promotion so that has to be the aim. oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/216857/stoke-academy-development-thread-season?page=19

Freddy Yao is a name destined for success regardless of talent! From the little I know about these lads, I like the look of that list. Local talent and a wonderkid - what more could you want?

Ollie Shenton has been playing with the U18s for the last two years, am I right? Certainly a top top prospect.

What are the chances of this one going tits up?. No problem. ALL transfers of professional footballers between countries are subject to International clearance. I think it is a technical thing to ensure that the club that the player is leaving are satisfied that any fee or compensation has been paid, that the player is old enough and that no one has a claim on him contractually. Unlike a transfer within a country, international moves concern two separate FAs so it is sensible to ensure that the FA of the exporting club are satisfied that everything is in order. Our FA won't be able to raise any problem as he has a EU passport - but, if he hadn't, then our FA would have to confirm that a permit could be granted before International clearance was approved.

Tonight or Monday is farting day! When we last played at Man Citeh, Luke45 and I had a wander round to look at the new developments they are doing near the main stadium. They have built a fantastic small stadium next to the main stadium which will be used for their development and Academy games. I'm not saying that Stoke can afford to do anything on the scale of what what Citeh are doing but it would be good if Stoke could find a way of building a small "proper" stadium to be used by the development squad and the U18 academy and/or the Ladies Premier League team. It could have some community value if it was made available for local cup finals at non league level.

We have put a little stand or two on the pitch down the training ground but that's it. My dream (if I had the money) would be to buy the Vic site, build exactly what you describe and other training pitches and use them for the community and Stoke.

They actually have two stadia outside the main stadium. The bigger one is probably bigger (and certainly better) than most Div2 and a few Div 1 League grounds. Just shows what big money can do. Your idea of using the old Vic site is great.

Apparently the idea behind the small stadium is that its supposed to be a shrunk down version of the main stadium and there's supposed to be some sort of bridge which connects the sites. from a sports psychology point of view the academy lads are going to be ingrained with the idea and goal of crossing the "bridge" to the senior team and with the academy facilities being similar to the senior team the transition should be a little easier. I do agree with Bayern's idea an academy stadium at the vic site would be brilliant.

I cant believe we dont build a temporary stand and make money off it to put back into the academy, or record the games and put them on the stoke player and sell more memberships to that either. Or for "Potters Foundation" members, club are missing a trick, as per
