Bradley was excellent. I'll give you Zusi. He was shit but I thought Bradley was excellent. Geoff was Geoff. Did some really good things and did others that had me wondering if he'd ever played the game. His tackling, if you can call it that, is woeful and very weak as evidenced by Belgiums second goal. Overall though Cameron had a good game and USA were excellent. Had they been able to bring on Altidore for extra time, I reckon they would have won. Dave, the bloke was playing in a red hot World Cup game in a central defensive role (you don't need me to tell you where he played all last season for us of for the States in the first two games) and did really well. Yes, he has lapses but who didn't last night? Thank God Fellaini doesn't play for us because I'm not sure what you'd say about his performance. Credit where it's due mate in this instance I said that overall Geoff had a good game. Surely that is credit where it is due??? :-) Ps...I don't do twitter. Pulis told me it is for Herberts!

Good to see Cameron getting recognition. Personally i don't understand why so many seem keen to get rid of the likes of Geoff, Crouch, Walters etc. I'm excited about the new signings too but for me the ideal situation would be that the new signings spur our current players on to even greater heights. It may well be that the new players prove a serious step up in quality and if so they will deservedly take their places in the team. How so many people can be so keen to jettison the players who just helped us to our best ever Prem place is beyond me. I think you are dead right. MH needs just to tweak last season team's regular players by using the new players when appropriate. I was talking to a Sunderland fan this week who told me Bardsley is generally a very good player, but can sometimes have "stinkers" and be really bad. Geoff Cameron's value has risen this World Cup; not just in financial terms but also in terms of demonstrating his versatility. Klinsmann was astute in using him to bolster the mid-field last night and he cut off numerous Belgian attacks and put in some excellent through balls to break-away runs by the forwards and full back. He is a very useful asset to have in the squad, not just through ability, but also great attitude and application, like Ryan, Bego, Crouch and Walters, which is also rubbing off on some of the other players. (P.S. First time I've watched a whole match with Klinsmann involved and not seen him dive!)

Cameron was excellent, couple of errors and passes that went astray, though several of these more because his teammates made the wrong run, but held his posiiton well, kept possession and couple of great driving runs towards the end Agree re second, committing would have been worse and the other guy was at fault. Could perhaps have been slightly tighter to his man. But I think Dave is referring to GC losing the ball somewhere else on the pitch

In fact he actually mimed taking it out of his imaginary top pocket before waving it. All that was missing was the imaginary pen and notebook.

"No-one has made more blocks in the World Cup so far than the 28-year-old" Good stuff, Geoff. "He came home one day, said he wanted to play soccer, and he's been playing ever since, literally. He was five or six years old," said Geoff's father, Scott Cameron. - this also lays to rest davejohnno1's theory of him being a latecomer to the game.

Dunner worry, Dave will soon explain to Mr C that he's having a senior moment and his memory is at fault!

Not really but if true, the game should be far more natural to Geoff than it seemingly is. He did well in the games I saw so fair play to him.

So Stoke City have a player who makes the best 11 of the top 16 Countries currently in the World. I reckon that's pretty good going for a guy who comes in for his fare share. He certainly made a mistake or two against Portugal, but bounced back, I think you can say he was typical of the spirit shown by the US team. They reminded me at times of our team when we first got promoted, defenders throwing their bodies on the line for the cause. Geoff Cameron seems to me to be a decent guy and a hard working pro, which are two of the best attributes that a stoke player can possess, in my opinion.

I think that is fairly good proof that his best position is defensive midfield. He has the quick feet to retain possession and an excellent knack of winning 50:50 tackles. Plus hes not expected to cross the ball so much from there.
I reckon MH would be crazy not to try him out in Whelans position for a couple of pre-season games to at least get a look at.

Just wondering what the CHW's are thinking about him getting in that top 11? Maybe it's a media conspiracy.
