It's great that we're getting in decent players now in the transfer market, that's not to say that we haven't in the past. But, I am slightly concerned that if the Club brings in too many they will need quite a few matches to learn how to 'read' each other on the pitch. Arnie(for me) is a prime example, he took quite a few matches to get into the rhythm of the Prem and Stoke's tactics when he arrived, so much so that quite a lot of supporters, myself included thought that Hughes had been sold a pup. I'm pleased to say that he's proved us all wrong and was one of our star men last season. If with all of the new signings this happens again I wonder if we'll struggle as a team? We are linked with a lot of players now, how true these stories are we can't know until they either sign for us or go to other clubs. obviously! I can't wait for the new season to kick off, but I'm a little worried at the same time.

im looking forward to the new season as much as everybody , mainly because of the way we played for the last 3 months of last season and not so much because of our new signings . they will take time to bed in

I suppose that that's my point really Harry. If we have quite a few on the pitch to bed in, it could affect the results, but hopefully in the best way!

I think Hughes will have learned from his QPR experience and will not try to start them all at once. He seems quite prepared to pick someone and give them a decent run before bringing in a replacement should anyone lose form.
Of the 4 we have brought in so far, Teixeira will probably not start league games initially and may have to wait for the League Cup to make his debut - and he could go out on loan in September. Sidwell and NZonzi (if he is still here) will compete for a place as the box to box player - preseason will decide who is in pole position at the start of the season. I expect only Diouf and Bardsley to be nailed on starters for the first game.

Hughesy will have learned from his QPR days that overloading the side with new faces isn't particularly clever.
Four or five (of his choosing this time) and with the right attitude will see us improve further.
He has my trust 100% so I'm not overly concerned, tbh...

I hope that Lakeland and Ruts are both correct and that Hughes has learned not to play too many new faces too soon. After reading their posts I did feel a little better. I do trust in Hughesy, he's done a brilliant job so far.

A full preseason of training should help the newbies bed in before the action starts.
A good 3 points against villa should settle any nerves.

And for the first time in many a year, we will see the benefit of having these players in early, and having a whole pre season to assist in ironing out these worries

There wont be the massive overhaul that some rumours are saying. Crouch, Adam, Walters, Nzonzi will all stay
A winger will definitely be brought in
Then maybe someone versatile who can play winger, behind striker and striker
And a goalie if Begovic leaves

Only Diouf and Bardsley will go straight in the side presumably?

At QPR, he had a load of players pushed on him by the club, all on far too much money and didn't seem to have any rhyme or reason behind their signing.
So far, we've got players in early which I think is great for integrating them in to the squad. We've targeted key areas of the squad and wont have caused any friction in terms of having players coming in earning 10 times more than current members of the squad.
I can see us ending the summer with 5/6 signings to strengthen the whole squad, which seems pretty standard really, I just think its better all around to get the players in early and have a good pre-season bonding

I think doing the bulk of our business early will be a big help.
With Tone it was October before the players knew each other's names given the proximity of the window shutting and the international break that follows.
I think Hughes will only be adding two or three new faces to the starting line up and that's very manageable.

Then again we have spent handsomely already on a young keeper...

Yeah, I do as well. I'm hopeful though as he does appear very settled and he wasn't really called into many headline grabbing moments. We may have had a little reprieve although I fully expect him to depart for a massive club before too long.

Get DIouf acclimatised to the Prem asap.
Bardsley and Sidwell need to earn a place imo - as mentioned pre season games will help but the Premiership is the place to show your worth.
I would expect to see a few fringe players move on in the next couple of weeks.
It's nearly July and once the World Cup is over clubs will begin to make moves in the transfer market
MH also has to keep the squad in harmony.
