I was thinking at just how poor Brazil have been so far in this tournament and for me their team is the worst they've had in the past 32 years and then it dawned on me that a player of fernandinho's quality has been left out of the squad. Was he injured or not ? If he wasn't how do you explain that the completely useless paulinho of spurs and the mediocre Luis Gustavo get chosen ahead of him ?

The magic has gone hasn't it?
And I think the globalization of the game means the ability to astonish will never come back.
All the world's great players playing together at the worlds great clubs in a truly global game means all the playing styles are morphing in to one.
Fred and Hulk are no more subtle than their names imply.

Today's Brazilian players pale into insignificance when compared with those lot. Apart from Thiiago silva and to an extent neymar none of the others Are world class
