After last nights loss to Italy does anybody expect England to qualify Yes or No?
I think if we give the same performance as last night we will win the next two games and qualify so I will say Yes!!!

I have massive doubts.
The odds are stacked against us now and as encouraging as our attacking display was, I can see us conceding further soft goals.

Yes. I think we played well in the first half - utter shit in the second.

Our group being what it is, we could conceivably finish top or bottom. I don't think we'll qualify. As much as there's talent in individuals, there's also too many mistakes in the team.
EDIT: But if the World Cup remains this good to watch, I really couldn't care less.

I saw enough last night to mean I'd be very disappointed if we couldn't beat the limp, Suarez-less Uruguay team we saw last night. Even if he plays, he'll be way off the pace.
And if we can't muster a performance against Costa Rica to progress, there'd be little point in us going any further.

If we can't then I reckon Hodgson should fall on his sword.

Back home a week on Wednesday hope they get any hotel deposits back. Costa Rica and Italy already have 3 points. Another win for them would put them through. We need to beat Uruguay by a few goals so a draw with Costa Rica would be enough on goal difference. Can't see it happening.

Yep. If people can see us conceeding soft goals I would like to see what both italy and england make of uruguays defence... big question is can costa rica muster another performance like last nights? Im guessing not but we will see.
Dont really understand the negativity bout last nite. We all knew our defence was shit and that we were going to have to rely on outscoring opponents... and italy arent the ideal team to do that against!

Not dissing your opinion but plenty of teams have gone through after losing their first game. prime example 2010 world cup spain 0 - switzerland 1

Personally I think they will be shitting their pants at the thought of sterling sturridge welbeck (only cos hes quick) lallana barkley running at their defence...

My problem is that our defence is leaking daft goals and I don't believe we have the firepower needed up front. We ought to be able to push past Uruguay and Costa Rica with ease just have a horrible feeling we won't. Totally uninspired by Woy.

I think all England fans have that same feeling ( i know i do) but i dunno, there is just something that tells me we always manage to squeek through no matter how bad our team

Whats probably gonna turn out to be better conceding 2 to italy or 3 to coata rica?

'drjeffsdiscobarge', I understand your point, England had a bad result but Uruguay's was far worse. This reduces the main last threat Uruguay but it pushes Costa Rica on. Let's hope 'CRs'result against Uruguay was a flash in the pan and Italy knock 3/4 past them. Losing against Italy was bad but a bigger defeat would have reduced our chance of qualifying on goal difference. So, fair point!
