Bardsley, Teixeira and Sidwell done plus potentially Diouf is all but signed and Riviere and Capel are irons in the fire. I cannot believe that we have done so much already, we didn't use to see a signing till mid-july when TP would inevitably sign a veteran Striker looking for a last pay day OR a past-it defender as back up.
We certainly aint fucking about this summer. Sparky means Business!

Diouf and Riviere to what we've already got though would be immense (on paper anyway)

Buying early also give Hughes the opportunity to offload some of the squad players who may not figure next season.

By all means Hackett could be right trigger, just stating that the admins etc heard that he may be over for talks this week. Whether or not it happens is left to be seen. Exciting window nonetheless. Also if you wanted to OP, you could count Skapetis in as a 4th signing, albeit U21.

This is what's been needed for the past 2-3 seasons. Get diouf signed then shift about 4-5 dead wood out. Wouldn't change it too much though, only non first teamers.... Like palacios!

You heard if first in the........Slovakian Press ........you should envy people who take no notice of speculation and drivel from foreign press. I've learned since promotion to not believe anything until the player is in the squad. Even the club announcing and parading players in Stoke shirt can mean nothing at times. That's why I don't believe Diouf will sign. Oh hang on isn't he signing today??? Let's see.

What's the infatuation with when we sign a player? It's almost becoming more important than who the actual player is.
At the moment we've signed a mid-to-lower Premiership right-back and a solid but pretty unspectacular central midfielder. As much as every Stoke fan, I'm hoping these prove to be great signings and Hughes has earned enough respect for his signings to be given time to prove their worth. But if these signings had been made in July or August, they'd be seen as panic buys.
Other clubs have shown that you can sign some utter dross in June [QPR, Norwich], and Stoke have shown that you can equally sign utter shit in August too [Palacios, Tonge, Soares].

In the case of Bardsley - it is quite difficult to remember the time we signed a specialist right back. Wilko and Shotton are right backs - although they were both home grown and both started out as centre backs and it shows in Wilko's case. Griffin I suppose was the last - but that was in pre-Premiership days - and even he played most of his career on the left. So Bardsley's signing justifies a public holiday with street parties, I would have thought!
