To be honest, a lot of the stick that he gets is way over the top. Decent appointment in my opinion

Fair play, Scholes, Marco and Erik have been great signings. Who is owning up to this £2.5m on a 4 1/2 year deal then?

Still not convinced. Comes across as a bit of a prick to me, and he'll never live the "pizza incident" down. That alone should be enough for a P45.

Don't know what the big deal is about the pizza incident - they were having something to eat, end of. Not a massive flaw at all!

Pretty clear that the powers that be were becoming clearly frustrated by the old managers transfer dealings and his methods. Proof of the pudding will be in the eating as far as the Pizza boys goes. At the moment it's 50/50 for me.

I think it was the antics surrounding it, the opinion of many being that they should have been working to get the deadline deals done rather than jumping around celebrating the arrival of a pizza. Also I gather the fact it was caught on SSN didn't help either.

So he's slating a previous transfer policy that he was a massive part of is he? Well Tony, if you feel that strongly about it don't hesitate to fall on your sword you daft cunt.

You'd sack someone for have something to eat while working late for you? Jeez. None of us know how good Cartwright (or Scholes) is at their jobs. They are getting serious money you'd assume, and they must be doing their jobs well - otherwise you'd have to assume that Coates is a dribbling old buffoon.

Not sure that is fair. Is the CE supposed to dictate the type of player and the scouting methods of the manager? I can really see Tony Pulis (or any other manager) liking that!!!!
I would of thought it was once bitten twice shy with Pulis, but appears not.

No fella, the retards people have spoken and decided that it is unacceptable to have a something to eat late at night having worked all day. They've decided that had they not had that pizza, they'd have concluded another deal. In fact, it probably led to Sunderland cancelling the Cattermole transfer (who I dont think would have improved us), Diouf would have come and we'd have been able to sell all the dead wood at the club. We'd have gone on to finish in Europe and probably won the FA Cup.

You need to grow up and fast. It's absolutely pathetic to be even talking about it yet alone use it as a stick to beat them with. God knows how you would cope if something really serious happens to you SGS

Pulis only wanted to sign proven players irrespective of how old they were or residual transfer value. Ultimately it led to his demise, more than the performances on the pitch as the club didn't feel they could progress when their spending power was frittered away. The club management have to be very clear about not interfering with the manager when it comes to player recruitment, Scholes and the rest of them are there largely to facilitate transfer decisions driven by the manager.

I see it less of celebrating pizza, more celebrating the Cattermole deal being called off

I will judge them when the summer window slams shut.
Without going into it again, after what happened in January was borderline scandalous and although I laugh at it now, back then when our results were looking slightly iffy I was kind of seething.

I suppose that you are the sort that has never arrived at work at 7.30am and still been there at 9.00pm and had nothing to eat all day. If you had, you would know how happy the sight of a pizza would make you. The fact that SSN chose to show their reaction doesn't make it bad. Have you no sense of humour? Do you honestly believe that Mark Cartwright and Tony Scholes ordering pizza and celebrating its arrival, in any way jeopardised any transfer?????

The jury is still out for me on carto no matter how much Scholes bigs him up. Huge credit to whoever spotted Arnie. But the Guidetti loan deal was an absolute shocker. Clearly unfit and totally devoid of big match game time, we were desperate for a loan player to come in and add value. He didn't and he also took up an important loan spot and no doubt huge wages. Nobody surely did any due diligence on this guy and that alone is a worry
As for the pizza incident, do grown men really act like that when a feckin pizza is delivered?

If they are hungry enough, yes! In my last year at work before retirement I was on a job which involved 12 hour shifts for 7 days and then we had the next 7 days off. Working 12 hours every day isn't a problem if you get a decent meal break in the middle of it, which we usually did. Sometimes though, because of the way the work panned out, we didn't get a break at all mid shift. That usually meant we sent out for a takeaway towards the end of the shift - and there were plenty of high fives when the takeaways arrived - eating definitely starts to dominate your thoughts 9 hours or so into a shift where you have not had a break. I know how Carto and co. felt and think no less of them because of it.

You are probably right. But, given that he is carrying a bit of timber, and probably does eat regularly, then he'll feel all the more hungry if/when he does miss a meal. So, the high fives are even more understandable!

I don't think it was the rather camp pizza celebrations in isolation that annoyed people was it. It was the fact that the feckless Dough Boys had just failed to deliver a striker for the third window running.

They can order as many pizzas as they want as long as they get the players sorted, and it looks like they might be doing just that.
