Loathsome club. I really really hope Hull do them over on Saturday but just can't see it. Apparently they did this in 2006 before their Champions League final match against Barca in Paris. They lost 2-1.

Preparedness I would say.
I hate the Arseholes as much as the next football fan, but it would be very naive not to have everything in ready should they triumph on the day.

As much as I want to say arrogance, it's surely preparedness. Hull probably have one too.

I'm going to defend the team I hate most in the entire world. It's quite clearly preparedness. It probably took a day, if not two, to paint that bus properly, especially when you have to put a clear coat afterwards to prevent the paint from flaking off if it rains etc. If they win the cup, they can't exactly be hanging around waiting for the bus to be ready.
Think we all need to take those goggles off and start thinking realistically.

Loathsome club. I really really hope Hull do them over on Saturday but just can't see it. Apparently they did this in 2006 before their Champions League final match against Barca in Paris. They lost 2-1. They have to put up notices though for road closures and diversions, and need to give enough time to notify residents and businesses for making alternative arrangements. The only exception is for absolute emergencies. They also have a whole process before they even notify the closure of having to get things agreed with the local authority, bus routes, statutory undertakers, emergency services and what additional vehicle and pedestrian management provisions they will have in place. If it involves TfL/HA roads then its an even bigger consultation process. Most clubs have the planning in place before the season even starts based upon what competitions they enter and may possible win and would absolutely, without fail, have to have the warning signs up 7 days prior to the event. It's not arrogance, it's abiding by the regulations and requirements of authorities - no doubt something we'd be moaning about if football clubs were able to just bypass as and when they need to

The bus aside, it would be brilliant to see Arsenal fail at the final hurdle against Hull in their quest to end a silverware drought that has gone on for far too long allready for a club of their sizes & with their resources that Wenger likes to keep under lock & key.

Post by mrcoke on May 15, 2014 15:28:38 GMT
That's beyond preparedness to me. There is no need for a bus to have anything painted on is there or have they got another bus that says finalists? Ordering the champagne and organizing a tour and reception is preparedness.

I sooooo want Hull to win. But I fear that much like Stoke v Man City, they will simply not turn up on the day (admittedly we had injuries). Arsenal have to win this for their credibility.

To watch Wigan and then Hull succeed where we failed will make it an even more bitter pill to swallow. This. I'm probably one of the few Stoke fans that wants Arsenal to win this. I hate that teams that are far smaller and shitter than us have done so much better in terms of silverware.
